I just ordered the SFS magnetic shells. I needed a new set of shells and figured that these would give a slight advantage plus be used as regular shells if I don't like the magnetic aspect. But I figured it would be good to have the option. I have the Sheets Absolutely Nuts DvD and the Phil Cass DvD and like both routines...the Sheets one I happen to like a little better for the pace. I was just wondering what everyone's experiences have been with these shells? Whit?

There is advantages with the magnetic shells, but personnally I just like the regular street shells. I had the SFS magnetic shells and then ended up selling them because I liked and used the regular shells all the time. Whit has a nice shell DVD that has a section using the magnetic shells.

Tbaer, I am not sure if that particular dvd is made yet. Whit Haydn and Bob Sheets are doing a shell game serries. The first one, or the "introduction" (it is much more than in intro.) is on the market. I am not sure about the others. Certainly at least on of the dvds will either be entirely devoted to magnetic shells, or will have a decent sized section on magnetic shells. I believe the main focus of the serries will be geared towards Whit and Bob's theories on using two peas.
Magnetic shells are great, and when one throws in a straight pea, it can be very strong. The magnetic street shells are very nice, and would be my choice. If I had money, then I would move towards those colorado silver ones, ooooo... Good luck, and contact whit haydn, he knows a little more,

I have written some moves and ideas for the magnetic shells up on previous posts on this board. I will do a search and post the result.
There will be a whole section on the next DVD in our shell game series on magnets and the shell game. Lots of great material. Kjellstrom has also posted some stuff on the magnetic street shells, and a video of his excellent routine with the magnetic street shells is available online. |

Magicmaven, I was referring to the DVD called "the shell game". There is a very short section about the magnetic shells and magnetic pea that Whit talks about. It's not an actual routine like Sheets performed on the video though.

Whit,
Do the Magnetic Shells perform the same as the regular Street Shells when regular perfect peas are used? |

I have the magnetic shells: I LOVE THEM !
They work as a dream... These shells are also perfect for fool "besserwisser" magicians, I played with the shells at the local magic club in my area and I hit them extremely hard with my sneaky routine You can see a short video clip with the magnetic street shels here: http://www.mastermagic.info/ (click on videos) In september I will fly to Bangkok, Thailand and do some magic shows on some hotels. There is a big convention in Bangkok 14-16 october: http://www.siam-magic.com/ CHECK OUT MY NEW EBOOK: http://www.kjellstrom.info/Jump-O-Ring.htm |

For some reason those links do not work. So, these shells do work as well as the street shells? Do they work on smooth surfaces without the tell-tale jump?

They are identical to the street shells, except they have a magnet molded into them.

Do they work on smooth surfaces? I perform in restaurants and wanted to include a 3 shell game. I was using the Vernet ones to begin with but they jump too much for me on the hard table and the moves were NOT easy.

All the S4S shells, The Street Shells, Golden Shells, Colorado Silver Shells and magnetic shells are designed to work with our Perfect Pea on hard and smooth surfaces such as wood, glass, and marble. They work smoothly without a jump because of the Chanin Dip. The Chanin Dip is a slight rounding of the bottom of the shell so that it rocks alightly from front (pointed end) to the rear of the shell. The inside and outside of the shells are rounded to make the entry and exit of the shell smooth and fluid.

The Perfect Pea is one of the greatest inventions since sliced bread. I've been playing around with some new ideas on the shell game. I got a set of these peas with the Victorian Shell Game that Colin Rose produces. I bought some extra ones from Craig Dickson at the Centenary.
And if you need tiny, but heavy balls for your miniature cups and balls sets, they are fine, as well.

WOW!!!!!!!!! I got the shells today. Before these shells I was using the Vernet Shells. I've only been doing the shells close to 4 months now. I opened them up about 10 minutes ago...I've been waiting all day to get home to these things...it's been a long day. I did the basic steal on my kitchen table and began to laugh because of the ease of movement. Thanks Whit, these are winners! The magnets also make the game much more deceptive. Highly highly recommended.

Ok, I officially just used the magnetic shells at my restaurant for the first time. I use the Sheets routine but change it up a bit for my tastes. Man, these shells work like a dream. I haven't explored the magnetic aspects yet but do use the 2 pea methods.

I realize part of that is what you are used to and use regularly, but for me, no matter which shells I grab the Perfect Pea is just that...perfect. Frankly, I think the most important contribution Whit and Chef Anton have made to the shell game is the foundation of that Perfect Pea.

All SFS shells are great. Professional tools made for serious performers. I own the magnetic street shells. A great product. When purchasing them I though it to be a good idea to have the magnets as an additional option. With quite a bit of practise I now know that I do not need the magnets. I would rather prefer to have sheels without magnets. You can still use peas with "metal inside" but only to store them held by a magnet in a convenient location outside the direct view of the spectator. With the ability to move in and out peas into and out off the game you can fool spectators for hours.
My advice would be to get SFS street shells because of the inconspicous look. However, without magnets. These are cheaper, too, than the magnetic versions. |

Don't forget the addition of two new colors of SFS perfect peas, red ones and white ones.
Our friends don't have to agree with me about everything and some that I hold very dear don't have to agree about anything, except where we are going to meet them for dinner.
