I am looking for video/book references or information about two types of impromptu, zombie-like routines that can be used at a dinner table. Type 1: Place a dinner object (roll, utensil, etc.) under a cloth, dinner napkin and it floats, peeks, etc., as in a zombie routine. Type 2: No object is placed under a cloth, dinner napkin. Instead, the napkin is held between the two hands at its edges and it just starts rising in the middle, as though something is under it, but the performer shows that nothing is under it - sort of like an impromputu version of Bill Abbott's, "The Thing." Do you have any suggestions about references and/or information about performing these two types of impromptu, zombie-like routines?
Thanks.

As memory serves, I think there wa a dinner roll Zombie effect on one of Daryl's Fooer Dooler video series. It's been a while, so I can't remember which volume.

"Encyclopedia of Impromptu Magic" - Martin Gardner.

"Zombie Roll" page 40 for Type 1.

Type 2 could be done the same way but w/o the roll.

Magicman845,
I checked the contents of the Foolers Doolers dvds and did not see anything that sounded like a dinner roll Zombie effect. By any chance, do you remember the name of it?
Thanks again.

Check out Magic for Dummies, it has mostly beginner material but a few gems that you can work off! In the Playing with your Food section there a bun levitation. The information included is also great.

Yup, Mad Duck's right! Magic for Dummies has the impromptu zombie effect you're looking for.

This first appeared in *the Phoenix* back in the late 1950s or early 1960s. Now it can be found anywhere, with the best illustrated version in *Magic for Dummies* - which has far too much good stuff in it.
