Hey Buster
Welcome to the magic Café. In my humble opinion the funniest juggler I ever saw is Frank Oliver at http://www.funnyfrank.com, and me Al Angello at http://www.juggleral.com. Funny Frank has been my inspiration, and idole since I saw him in action at the 1987 Akron Ohio IJA convention. After seeing Frank perform I decided that I wanted to be just like Frankie some day. I am still trying Al

Not who most would call a comedy juggler, but Jason Garfield (www.jasongarfield.com). I've not seen him live, but I have caught him on video a few times and he's really funny.
Also, he's one of the few jugglers that actually does awsome stuff (10 balls, 10 rings, 5 club back crosses etc. etc.). Also from the UK I like Rod Laver (http://www.impactartists.co.uk/Great_Artists/rodlaver.asp) is really funny. Ros

I got into the comedy juggling because of seeing Frank Olivier. So he has a special place in my heart. I know what you are thinking...WOW!

Mr Bill
I started to juggle after seeing Michael Davis on the Dick Cavett show many years ago. I knew I loved comedy and Michael convinced me that I could make it work if I mixed comedy and juggling like he did. When I saw Frankie Oliver perform I realized that his IN YOUR FACE style was perfectly suited for my big mouth, and both of these men were the primary influences of my juggling career, but things are always changing and now I strive to be more like Aldo Colombini who is just as funny but with magic. I'm somewhere in between Al

I like Micheal Davis' routines as well. I forgot his name THANK-YOU. I actually saw Micheal and Frank play together at a venue (I forget where, I was young then).
Their styles are opposites and play well together. Micheal's is more deadpan/monotone lazy and is hilarious, and Frank's is definately in your face baffoonary, if that's a word. |

I believed Frankie replaced Michael on Broadway as the closing act in Sugar Babies.

There were many road productions of Sugar Babies but Michael was the original on Broadway, and Frank replaced him. I performed in the Chester County Pa. community Playhouse version in 1989 for no money, all I got was the privledge of going to the cast party, and boy was I thrilled. Now I won't get off my couch unless I have a signed contract.

I was inspired by the late Bobby May to take up juggling. Sadly I never saw him live, he died in 1981 the year of my birth, but I caught a film short of his when I was about 8 or 9.
It was the one where he gets a job in a soda store, I forget what its called. I guess you could call him a comedy juggler in a similar way as you would call Jason Garfield a comedy juggler. They are both funny, but the skill level is/was huge. They are both original jugglers too. Not doing the usual apple, torches, 6ft unicycle type of comedy juggling that most did back then and still insist to do today. I have a question for you all. What is your favourite comedy juggling moment? Ros

There is a 26 minute video of all of Bobby May's film clips still availible. The funniest comedy juggling I ever saw was at club renegade at the 1995 St Louis IJA convention a man and woman went up on stage to promote safe club juggling and then passed 6 clubs with condoms on them. After the show they told the story of how they went to a motel room to try the trick out in private, they experimented with many samples before they were sure it would work on stage, but when they left the motel room they left all their experimental samples all over the room for the maid to deal with. My favourite comedy juggler moment is when Michael Davis is doing his whole food groups juggling bit. It has made me decide to take out the five+ juggling and focus on the act instead of the skill. I find audiences are more entertained by Michael's 3 food group juggling than a guy doing 9 balls. It's all in the act, not the numbers.

My favourite comedy juggler is probably Steve Rawlings (UK) although their are many more whose names I don't remember but whose acts I have enjoyed. I also think Steve Martin is pretty good but the juggling is sadly being left out of his act now.

I knew a man who kept saying "pliers, pincers, scissors". He was speaking in tongs.

The great thing about Charlie Frye's comedy juggling act is, he performs a silent act, which makes it work in every country.

Nels Cremean is probably the funniest juggler I have ever seen, but I haven't seen a whole lot of jugglers yet.
