I love the Johnson Cups, but also love Stainless Steel. Has Johnson ever made a set of cups in Stainless? I've searched the internet and found nothing, & I can't find any way to contact anyone at Johnson.
Any help would be appreciated. MM

No, Johnson have never made their cups in stainless steel. I'm pretty confident in saying that, but with a bit of luck Bill Palmer might drop by later and give you the final answer on this one.
The closest in style (three beads) are probably Auke Van Dokkum's cups, which are excellent ($360). His regular cups are very nice, but I think the 'traditional' shape cups are something special. There are pictures of the standard cups on Auke's website http://www.cupsandballs.nl/ and a picture of the 'traditionals' at Bill's Cups & Balls museum (which I'm sure you know is at http://www.cupsandballsmuseum.com/ ) on the 'Standard Cups' page. Happy hunting! Richard

I don't know of any Johnson cups in stainless. They have made a few sets in copper.
If you want stainless standard cups, CNC machined, van Dokkum or Joe Porper would be the source. Busby made some, but they were terribly expensive.

Van Dokkum is the way to go in stainless, his cups are beutiful. And are very well made, very solid.

It's hard to beat the Monster Cups for "solid."
BTW Auke has seven different sizes of cups to choose from. You may wonder why his cups cost so much, if they are CNC machined. Well, most of the work is in the polishing, which the CNC program does not do.

Could you imagine how much one of his "monster" cups would be if it were
a solid cup. It would probably weight 300 pounds.

Hey Bill,
Where does one obtain Johnson's in copper? Also, did you ever find contact and price info for Klaus Kuhn? |

I found them last week at the The Magic Warehouse and on eBay for as little as $160 (eBay). The JP cups handle great and have a good weight behind them I like them better than all the different cups that I have. Thanks for the info, I always wondered if they were ever made in stainless steel.
I'll try to contact Auke again, recently I didn't get a response when I inquired on a set of cups. Steve is right, his cups look great and they are heavier than most cups in the same class. MM

I like the weight too but they don't take much of a final load.
I'd go for the sherwoods before I would get the johnsons. If you like stainless, Auke has some wonderful cups that take a baseball. Which mean's they'll also take a nice size orange as well.

What are you referring to? A routine? A set of cups? Bobby has never mentioned a set of cups to me. I saw him last month in London.

I sa it or something like it refered to as the Bobby Barnard cup at another UK dealers site last year.

It's a Keith Bennet cup. Bobby Bernard just said that they were the best set of cups he had ever seen. I wish I could do the same thing. If I could say that a Hummer was the nicest car I'd ever seen, I would do it in a hearbeat! That is, if they would name a model of it after me!
There is a set of them in the Cups and Balls Museum. They are nice cups. Keith is out of them right now. I e-mailed him about a set before I went to London. As it happens, a friend of mine had a used set, so that was a good situation. You realize, of course, that the price is in Pounds Sterling. The price in USD would be about $135. They are an excellent choice, but, as I said, he is out of them.
