I have recently bought Gregory Wilson's new DVD, "Pyro-Technic Pasteboards", and it contains some really cool stuff.
I don't have "Card Stunts" but, those of you who do, which one do you think is better: Card Stunts or PTP? |

Card Stunts has more stuff that I actually use. But PTP has a great deal of audience management and some great thinking behind it. Come to think of it, I only use lethal 4s on a regular basis from PTP, but I use a couple of things from CS. I really don't like the outjog spread pass either. But, the backstage pass is nice and easy.

phranQ,
If you liked Pyro Pasteboards, you will definitely like Card Stunts. I didn't like PP as much as Card Stunts, I would recommend Card Stunts if you like his style of magic.

The opening effect on Card Stunts is beautiful. Even if you never do it, it's quite startling.
I had never seen him work and a friend of mine loaned me this tape. I was very impressed. My only "complaint" with Greg Wilson is that he is such a powerful performer that some of his magic is overshadowed by his comedy. He performs some incredible effects but has a tendency to stifle the strongest moments of amazement with bits of comedy. Then again, he is very entertaining. I did not care for the tape on double lifts as much.

http://www.magicproshop.com stocks Card Stunts.
Gregory Wilson is an incredible performer; one of my favorites, and the way he handles cards is incredible. I use several things from Pyrotechnic Pasteboards myself. I used to use Point Blank for my Ambitious Card but I stopped after that, but I still use the blank deck idea sometimes. Straight-As is a nice and sweet four ace revelation; I use the butterfly-type cut Gregory Wilson describes in the last phase. (does this cut have a proper name? Gregory Wilson says it is a variation of the Butterfly Cut) he also teacehs the backstage pass, one of my favorite passes, and the OUtjog Spread Pass by Michael Weber, which, though a bit angle-sensitive (because it is basically LePaul's spread pass with an outjogged card), is quite convincing as well - I was fooled the first time when he did it on Point Blank. I like his thinking for the Flippant move too, though I can't seem to get the move down. And (I've mentioned this before in another thread) Gregory Wilson's audience management and his presentation will leave you dumbfounded. Just watch his Cards 2 Pocket routine in Pyrotechnic Pasteboards (the beginning), where he does the variation of the G-Force routine from Card Stunts, successfully classic forcing the same card over and over again on the spectator several times, even when the spectator chose the top card! Card Stunts, I use his Reset, which is easy and mindblowing. Card Stunts has more entertaining material but the material is also significantly harder on Card Stunts. Also, there is the incredibly hard Revelation in Spades, and Boomerang Card of Death which is sort of like an easier version of Zen and the Boomerang or something like that from Paul Harris' AoA. It is still hard for me. FISM Aces from Pyrotechnic Pasteboards is Boomerang Card of Death times four without the card splitting into the pack and the vanish of teh deck at the end. I still can't get this down either. anyway, I've rambled on too much... both are excellent choices... I sort of preferred Card Stunts because the material is more entertaining (sort of) in there... but both are highly recommended by me! Double Take is a great video... I now use Martin Nash's Knockout D/L on a regular basis after learning it from Double Take.

I like Pyro-technique better. Card Stunts has some cool stuff on it, but Pyro has Better stuff.
that's just my 2 cents. |

Pyro-Technic Pasteboards contains a lot of great effects and ideas. Before I bought the DVD I thoughtI would never use the flop change after reading about it "Art of Astonishment." In Greg's skilled hands, it looks like pure magic.
Greg Wilson is one of my favorite magicians and he is absolutely hilarious. He OWNS the audience. |

Card Stunt is better than Pyro-Technic. I found Pyro-Technic boring to watch, his public was not very good. Pyro Technic is the only video of Greg that I did not like.

Eh? "his public was not very good" - what do you mean by this?
