What is magic, Glenn? Is it simply a display of the science of deception? That could be awfully grim. Your answer is true because it is a tautology. It simply doesn't tell us much that is helpful in our quest to become "good" magicians doing the best possible "magic." To say something useful you have to define your terms in a way that informs, as Robert-Houdin tried to do.

How's this work: What should a Magician be?
How's specious or fictitious for you?.

The fictitious isn't working for Glenn. The specious is fine, though. Jump on in.

Regarding lies: acting is very much about truth.

Or getting the lie to the closest approximation of truth as possible.
There are many truths that are revealed as we consider and examine lies. |

But if you take your magic science and then do shows with it over a long time the magic and the performer will be better. And improve over time by doing it for different audiences. In fact I would have to say my best magic teachers are the audiences I have performed for. Not the acting classes I have taken. I hope this helps you and you find it useful!

Intelligence. Very important. Generosity. Someone else mentioned flexibility.
Willingness to learn. Able to take good direction. Creative. |

I'm losing some of that "flexibility" I fear...

I've stayed out of this because it sooooooo very broad. Millions of things a magician should be, many tools in the box to be worked on.
SO..... A magician should be.... ... ... ... ... doing more and talking less. advancing every day. |

A magician should be sure he gets the check before he leaves the room.
