For laymen, Larry. And consequently, for other coinmen. The most obvious tell, to me, is the tension that is evident in the back of the hand. The next tell that I see often is the lack of fluidity. People don't know what to do with thier hands when they have something palmed, and the attempts to disguise this are often the equivilent of "Ham" acting. Un-natural posturing, etc. I remember seeing Mike Skinner when I was about 22 years old. He did a lecture and completely fooled me with a C/S effect, because I never suspected the extra coin. The "finesse" he used was this: he had a coin finger-palmed, and as he directed the action he adjusted his glasses, giving us a look at the inside of his hand. I was sure it was empty, because the gesture was appropriate, not because it was clever. Laymen "sense" things thru your body language. They recognize things that are out of step with your normal actions...

It depends on what I'm working on. Currently I am working on edge grip and deep back clip. I expect that the deep back clip will be okay after I practice a thousand times or two, but the edge grip is becoming risky. If I use one finger or two while having it below my chest, the chances of me flashing due to lack fo experience is.. well, embarrasing. If I hold it up or use a few fingers as cover, it would be unatural and defeat the purpose of edge grip. It's been annoying me since I've started practicing for it...

Apollo Robbins has a one-handed vanish/recovery that I will never be able to master if I live to be 1,000 years old!

-flying wombat (the sliding of the coin on the left hand ,those who tried will see what I mean) -one hand steeplechase discrepancy (like a himber vanish in mid-air) Anyway a wonderful book Marc |
