Does it exist? A thorough explanation on the side steal?
Every video I have seen explaining it is kind of vague, "do this and this, and then magic happens". Is there a video with several side steals, explaining them all, so that I can find one I like and learn it very good? Btw, I use a modified version of The Godfathers Squeeze Palm at the time, just so you know

Lennart Green explains "a" side steal Sam but I am not sure if it is "the" side steal.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

There are many side steals, I'd like a video with explanations on several of them.
Kind of like On The Pass, but just On The Steal

If you master the Lateral palm, not easy to do, as taught by Green A side steal from Top centre or bootom as shown by him becomes easy.

Samuel,
I am in the process of shooting a video for Paul Cummins on Marlo's Deliberate Side Steal. I've seen the material first hand and Paul is a wonderful teacher. My best guess is it is still a couple of months off until it is available so keep checking Pauls site at http://www.fasdiu.com for updates. Jeff Pierce

On Ellusionist's "Shapeshifter" DVD, Marc DeSouza goes over the "LePaul Sidesteal" and the "Erdnase Palm Shift" pretty well.

Daryl's Encyclopedia of card sleights, volume 6 I think. It has a lot of palms and the side steel. Its a good video.
Stick to the classics,

Paul gave me some invaluable tips on the side-steal when I was learning the move, and any success I've had with it I owe directly to his instruction. Given the uniform excellence of all his previously released material, I have no doubt that this will be THE DVD for anyone interested in learning this wonderful control.

Here are some random books that you might own/ not own and have some awesome stuff in it:
Guy Hollingworth's Drawing Room Deceptions- There is an awesome side steal in this, done whilst rotating the deck at the fingertips, kind of like Green's Float Pass in natural actions with the deck. The Card Magic Of LePaul- There are a few taught in here, and well explained also with pictures of step by step of LePaul's actual hands doing the sleight Card Control by Arthur Buckley - Now, there are some and I don't feel that they are the best but there are a few gems in there that are well worth looking into. Revolutionary Card Technique - I only recently got this ( a few weeks back) and have been avidly studying each section, on deals, faros, palms etc. and I remember there being a section on side steals. Knowing Marlo, he was a method monkey, so there is bound to be a few that will appeal to you in here. Card Classics of Ken Krenzel - There are a few steals in here, Broadside steal etc. and they're nice to read about and do, I enjoy a lot of Ken's work because of the different style of thinking that has been done in making the sleights and stuff, so there are some nice ways to do sidesteals/ steals in general with a lot of other stuff. You don't really need a video for something, although it may seem as if it is easier, a book can get more across, so much more indepth also. The writing has been put forward to give the utmost efficient answer and thought, whilst in a video it could be scripted or spontaneous, either having a lesser ability than a book's explanation sheerly because they can be A) scripted and sound as if they're the teacher from the Ferris Bueller movie, or B) miss an important point because they're explaining another point moreso indepth. A book is forever, and can be changed before being released. One filming of an explanation can exclude something relevant, a reshoot may leave something else out whilst including something new. I rely on books more. Just a rant hehe.. Eddie |
