Hi Guys:
I noticed that Michael Close Signature Effects DVD is a combination of his workers series and also his Power of Palming DVD. Would appreciate if someone could clarify the following: 1) When we say that the Signature Effects DVD contains the signature effects from his workers series, does that mean his "Ultimate Workers Series" which contain 4 DVDs? 2) I noted that the Signature Effects DVD contain the work on a) Work on the Origamy Bunny b) Dancers at the End of Time (Source: http://www.loomismagic.com/semc.html) However, when I browsed the page on his "Ultimate Workers Vol 1 - 4: (Source: http://www.loomismagic.com/ultimateworkers.html) I did not notice "Work on the Origamy Bunny" and "Dancers at the End of Time" as part of the description. Does that mean that the "Work on the Origamy Bunny" and "Dancers at the End of Time" are not included in the Ultimate Workers Vol 1 - 4 DVD? Or are these two effects described in other names - in the Ultimate Workers DVD set? Thanks |

I don't remember Dancers being in any of the original VHS tapes. It may be in the Ultimate Workers but I believe they left it out as well. I know that there was some work on the origami bunny in the original VHS tapes but I don't remember which volume. Anything that Close puts out is usually very practical, very commercial, and very useful. Not to mention VERY good.

Here are the contents:
Work on the Origami Bunny * Dr. Strangetrick * The Ring & Shoelace Routine * Dancers at the End of Time * The El Cheapo Magic Club * The Frog Prince That's it for the Workers section-- a small fraction of the length of the Ultimate Workers Series. This is just one video/dvd. |

I have a question. On the Power of Palning section on the signature effects DVD it says that : "In addition, there are performances of two of Michael's strongest performance showstoppers: The Card, the Forehead, and the Salt Shaker and Butte Ox? Two Butte Ox!". My questions is, are this performance only or are they explained in detail???

They were performance only on the VHS version. Sounds like this DVD is just a straight conversion/combo of his Power of Palming and Signature Effects VHS tapes which were heavily discounted as a VHS bundle about five or six years ago when I bought them from MagicSmith.
I just remembered something else from the tapes. Mike Close shows and talks about the Origami Bunny but refers you to the book for the actual fold. Dancer's at the end of time is on the VHS I'm pretty sure. I'm not sure what the actual name of the tape was (Signature Effects or Ultimate Workers) but it contained the exact same effects listed above by Mito. |

The Power of Palming came with a booklet that explained the routines. The video portion was performance only.

If you were to ask me if the routines on POP are explained I would have to reply: "yes and no". The basis of the routines is the palms. The palms are very well explained separately and the routines are shown as performances. There is then an explanation of where and which palms occur in the performances. The accompanying booklet also highlights where they occur. I think from this you should be able to put the routine together yourself, that is, one way or another, the routines get full explanations.

This is the original Workers video that Mike made, and nothing to do with the L&L videos that he did.
There are some things on the earlier video that are not on the later ones, and I seem to remember it was produced between Workers 2 and 3. It would be worth getting simply for the Power of Palming video. As for the two routines, they are performances of the routines, principally to show the various palms in action. The booklet that came with the video has a time breakdown of the moves, but not the full explanation that was in the books. I understand that they were intended to work alongside the books as a teaching aid. Take care, Ian |

However, I would be much more interested in the psychology and timign behind the misdirections used in the effect. I'll go and buy it and work my way through it. I just don't like routines put out that is not explained in their detail, you'll end out with two DVD versions and one book before you really understand the small details - that are so important. |

Try getting in touch with Michael Close directly via his website to see if he still has any of the dvds available.
