I very much want to bring Andre Kole up to the Puget Sound area, where I live, for a city-wide performance. I contacted his office about booking, and was surprised at the affordability of his show.
I am researching ways to fundraise for this-- I'm taking it on as a "mission," as it were. I'd rather not charge for the event, if possible, but I've heard that people put more value on an event if they pay something. His Discovery Channel appearance, walking on water, I think will impact a lot of people for God... and I anticipate a wave of enthusiasm for his ministry after word spreads. Have any of you worked with him before, or been a part of a church or organization that hired him? Also, I'm open to any creative ideas for raising money for this.

Try contacting local charities and present this idea to them as a fund raiser.
In the past the local magic club in Lynnwood has worked with charities like the Boy's and Girl's Club and split the profits from the show. Contact the locale chambers of commerce for lists of reputable charities to contact. I'd like to see Mr. Kole perform myself. He's been through town several times in the past but I always hear about it after he has been and gone.

Thanks. IBM, NW Ring of fire?
How much did the Boy's and Girl's Club charge for tickets?

I have hosted Andre 4 times through churches I have been involved with. Each time I sold tickets at a very reasonable price (around the cost of a movie ticket) and each time I ended in the "black." To do so you must be sure that you have enough seats in the venue to cover the expenses.
On the other hand, in case you end up in the "red," you need to ask yourself what you are willing to spend to reach out to your community, as there are no guarantees in regard to ticket sales. If you don't want to sell tickets you just have to come up with creative fundraising ideas. Considering that Andre is a creative genius, travels with assistants, presents a 90-120 minute show of illusions that are original and entertaining, and shares a message that may impact people for eternity, this is one of the best bargains you will ever come across! "Affordability" is an understatement! It's only the fact that Andre is aware of the cost that it is not considered a "steal!" Terry

Having attended one of the shows where Terry brought Andre in, I can attest to the low cost that permitted me to bring a large number of folks who needed to hear what Andre had to say.
You could certainly raise the money and then offer the performance for free, but I really also agree that it is is free, it will be seen as having less value, and this show would be a good deal at $20 a ticket. So you should be careful not to diminish the value inadvertantly. You can always offer tickets as "scholarships" to those who would have trouble buying them. And you could encourage Churches to buy blocks (at a discount even - assuming you are covering costs) to provide for unbelievers. You probably don't need to hear this, but I will say it anyway. If you are looking at it as a Mission, make a point that the tickets go to those who might enjoy the magic, but who need the message. In other words, while a Church might want to send the whole choir, encourage them to have the choir give the tickets, and maybe offer transportation to sombody who doesn't already have a reserved seat in Heaven. Also think about some kind of followup party or other way to reinforce what Andre says later on. I bought two of Andre's videos (two different shows) and use them at "Share the Magic" get togethers where there is some live entertainment, and video of Andre, and also some very focused evangelism. This is great feedback. I was pondering the idea of a "suggested donation of $X" at the door, which tells the majority of attendees that this is an outreach-- and will draw a wider spectrum. I like all your ideas, about churches buying blocks of tickets and so forth.
To the best of my knowledge, I've never seen a church or organization in this area advertise a magic show with a marquis illusionist.

I have talked with Andre Kole's booking people, and they are helping me connect with local organizations that have worked with him in the past.

Does he still give his audience the chance to leave the theatre before he begins to preach to them?
I've heard that he is really good and quite innovative and I'd like to see him perform but I refuse to go if he is going to preach at me. I'm very happy with my belief system and don't need somebody trying to tell me that it is wrong. |

He doesn't preach to anyone. He will simply share the good news. And if anyone is uncomfortable hearing that, he will definitely give you the chance to go their merry way. And even if he did not offer the opportunity, the chairs don't have locking seat belts, so they could always get up and leave.

I saw him a few months ago, in NJ, and he did say you can leave if you don't want to hear the message, yet he also said it was the most important thing you'll ever hear, and of course his last trick was after the Gospel presentation, so I don't think anybody left. I have to say it was a really cool show and the coolest evangelistic effort I have ever seen, way better than those big arena concerts things I have been too.

Andre was touring in my area this week and I hosted him yesterday in my church. Because we were limited on time, he performed about 1/2 of his regular show and shared the Gospel with a magical illustration. He closed with his levitation and blew everyone away.
As usual, positive comments from those who had already seen him and those who had not. If you have never hosted him, you are passing up a great night of entertainment and outreach. His office staff will provide you with everything you need to know in order to pull it off. Terry

Mr. Turntime
Make sure you post the times and dates here if you get Mr. Kole to do his show in Seattle as I've been wanting to see him perform for quite some time. I'd even sit through his gospel spiel as I doubt he will say anything I haven't already heard a thousand times before.

Will do. I think since he's sharing his unique, private and personal story, it is possible, isn't it, that you haven't heard it a thousand times?

Looking forward to seeing Mr. Kole perform though.

I was once like Payne, and a lot of other folks, in that none of it made sense to me. I had heard it a ton of times, and it just wasn't my cup of tea. I am highly educated, was a member of the debate team, and a logical thinker of the highest order. I counted myself an intellectual, dealing with facts, and believing only things I could see and prove with logic. I also was a good person, and if it cost me no more to do so, I would generally do "right." And I knew lots of folks who were a lot worse than me, so I was standing pretty tall in those days.
I actually went around looking for those silly Christians who might be foolish enough to even "discuss" Christianity with me. And, God forbid they should try to convert me to their way of thinking. I had read the Bible, and memorized enough scripture to quote and misquote, confront and confuse those folks who "had a message for me". As long as everything was going well for me. And it went very, very well of a lot of years, I didn't need God. So I too like Payne, felt that I did not have the God sized hole in me that I had heard about. I was in control, and doing very well without God, thank you very much.... Then it all fell apart, and nothing I did worked anymore. I won't really go any further here about all that happened, lost company, income, house, car, marriage, evicted from a trailer..... and more... but it showed me that my life was NOT within my control, and I couldn't get through it alone any more. It showed me that I was not God! as I had unknowingly thought and set myself up to be. I realized that life hinged on a simple truth; Either I am God - and I proved I am not, or there is a God, the Lord God Almighty above all. I humbled myself as a little child to the Lord God, and prayed for forgiveness through Jesus Christ for my pride and disbelief. And suddenly, all of the foolishness that I had never understood, became amazingly clear to me. But this topic was about about Andre Kole. So I will say that whether or not you get it, when Andre explains it, is between you and God. And you don't have to listen at all, if you don't want to listen. However I will tell you what I told my son. Not believing in God, is simply a bad bet. Here is what I mean by that: If you believe in God, and live a good and Godly life and there is no God, what have you lost? But if there is a God, and you have rejected Him, what have you gained? Momentary pleasures and the wages of sin? Death is hardly a prize to be sought after so eagerly. It is quite simply; a bad bet. Terry Holley just let me know that Andre is in my area tonight for a show at Kent State University, and unfortunately, I don't have time to gather a group to go. But he does some amazing magic. I can't at this point in time ever see me believing in anything greater than man's consciousness but who knows I've been wrong before. None the less all of this will not keep me from enjoying Mr. Koles performance when and if he returns to the Seattle area.

David,
I was at Andre's show tonight; I'm sorry you couldn't make it. The illusions he performed were perfect, and his polished showmanship really stood out. You could hear people in the crowd saying, "I love this guy!" -- not to mention that he tied a good message into everything. I met Andre after the show, and his presence is just incredible. I have to admire him for everything he's doing with his career in magic. See you soon, Angela Funovits |

Angela, So nice to hear from you! Glad you were able to make the show. He is truly a master showman, and also a very nice individual with a magnetic personality.
I look forward to seeing you again at one of our magic meetups. I heard you did a great job at the show at Nelson's ledges. And from the rehearal, I would expected no less. Paul continues to acknowledge your performing skills and everyone talks about your retension vanish and rub away vanish. Keep up the good work girl! BroDavid
