Does anyone here use colored doves?

If so, can you share the techniques and materials for safely dying the birds?

I have tried it , but have had problems...and I'm sure there is a better way.

Try to PM Dan Sperry on the Café. I know he dyes his doves. He uses the username sperris.

Dying doves is a laborous task. Food coloring and a cotton swab. One stroke at a time. Wash the doves 1st to get off oils on the feathers. By wash I mean give them a bath, they can wash their own backs. Smile

Andy Amyx's Pro Color...it'll save you a lot of time, effort, and poorly colored birds. All you have to do is add water, shake, and spray -GENTLY obviously. Don't get it in their eyes on in their beaks or nostrils. Infact, I stay away from the face completely and they do the rest. Andy's is a cake dye based totally safe non-toxic way to color your birds. If you're a beginner his stuff is the way to go. He also covers dove coloring on his video/dvd: Doves 101.
