I don't know if "favorite" is the right word but the scariest movie I've seen was about 20 years ago, with John Saxon, called Black Christmas.
Very little, if any, blood; no sex; just sheer terror. It puts movies like Hallowe'en and Friday the 13th to shame. |

I believe Black Christmas was at one time double featured with The Exorcist when they were in the the theaters! Coincidently, I would rank The Exorcist 3 as one of the greatest films in the horror genre. (3 because they wisely, totally ignored that 2 was ever made) George C Scott's monologue on the things he "believes" in is quite a piece of work and the fact that it takes place and was actually filmed 20 years after the orginal just makes it even more creepy.
And of course, I can't respond to this question without mentioning the Evil Dead series...no better in the camp horror division. I love a good fright flick! Happy Halloween! -Billy-> |

Oh, yeah Evil Dead I, II and Army Of Darkness, I heard there was/is a video game of it coming out.
My all time favorite is, Sorry Wrong Number with Agnes Moorehead. Otherwise Orsen Well's The Hitchhiker or Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures. Also can't forget Hitchcock his movies always creep me out. In comedy with a creepy undertone, Arsnic and Old Lace and any of the Abbott and Costello meet monster movies.

Psycho, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Dude, Where's My Car?
The last one was just scary because someone decided to make it. Greg

The Changling, a sleeper starring George C. Scott (and also featuring the most accurate portrail of a trance medium and automatic writing I have ever seen in a movie)
The original version of Shirley Jackson's The Haunting not the horrid remake of a couple of years ago.

Seven,
The Shining, Dracula (It's not so much scary as just a wicked movie. I like anything with Vampires.) |

I love old Hammer Horror films - but they're more kitsch than scary.
Blair Witch Project gave me a few frights at the cinema. Coming home in the fog was worse though, especially as we live next to a wood... Cheers ML |

Has anyone out there seen "The Ring" yet? This is supposed to be fabulous. Some critics are claiming tht this is the scariest movie since "The Exorcist."

Hey,
I think "The Blair Witch Project" was a good scare. The camera also gave me a headache. "The Ring," I almost mess myself when I see the ads for it. It should be a good one. ARI |

I did get a chance to see "The Ring" with my girlfriend on Halloween night. It was quite a scare. In my opinion, it wasn't the scariest movie. But it did have some parts that made me either sick to my stomach, or just jumpy. I laughed through the movie because the theater was filled with 200 teenagers and they screamed at the smallest things. It was hilarious. Hehe.. Anyway, I enjoyed it. But the movie is definitely not for everyone.
Oh yeah, I might as well list my favorites... I did start the topic didn't I? The Stand, -Stephen King Young Frankenstein, *spoof of 1950s horror movies* Night of The Living Dead, -There is just something about watching people beat the crap out of zombies that entertains me. |

Oh, yeah, The Stand is excellent! I also like King's IT. The TV Movie scared me as a youth.
