More helpful to whom, and how? Some of us have studied art, have some ability to express ourselves in other arts and treat magic as its own particular art. I take it the line about Mertz and Dada went by most readers here. Reading is fundamental. Mere word and sentence recognition is sufficient only for the facile who seek a libretto to their internal opera of ignorance. Don't forget to maintain the sound and fury. Would content spoil the game of signifying nothing?

It kind of depends on which is more important to you; to fuss with a deck of cards and feel clever, or to look at a painting by Duchamp and wonder why he painted a tear in the canvas and then installed a real zipper.
Someone from Egypt once said that when you put your hands over your ears you can hear the sound of denial. Not just a post, a de-fence mechanism.
