Not a section. Mina should have her own (TASTEFUL) web-site. Isn't she beautiful? I feel fortunate to be able to call her my friend.

Ive tried a few things around the house to
try and get this even close to working and I can't, but it does seem very possible. This is what I'm thinking. I see three methods. One is having a substance to contain the shape (an outline) to keep the ink from going too far. I was able to semi-achieve this with oil (olive oil). The second way is to lubricate a path for the ink to spread (drawing the shape itself, not the outline) I could not get the ink to draw into any of the substances I tried. I have not tried well ink, just felt tip pens I didn't think they would fully work but I thought it might give a clue. I really think the way to accomplish this may be a two way ink. Invisible ink that becomes visible when another ink touches it, then the pen will have to be rigged to spew more ink than a truely useable pen would. I advise against felt tip.

I too have tried various substances to contain the ink. One that works resonably well is soft wax. The problem is to get the ink to bleed enough. You can get small amounts, but that means small shapes, which are not conducive to any of the methods I have tried so far. 2 part ink I did not think of. Hmmm

There are various inks available at art supply stores. Usually they are called India Inks or something like that. This could be combined with an interesting pen, such as a quill pen or other ornate pen. Some pens are made of glass, available at a craft show or craft fair. Using a commerical magic marker is not very bizarre. The bleeding idea is good and deserves an appropriate setting.

Actually the method is used to cause the appearance of a severe cut, and then healing. Wet the area, (or symbol) with ferric chloride... It can then be wiped off of skin "healing the wound." One of our old side-show tricks.

It sounds like an expensive and difficult to
aquire (but very effective) two part ink! Seriously now, how difficult is it to aquire chemicals of that type... they look pretty dangerous.

Tri-ESS is a supplier of the ferric/cyanide fake blood. It looks red at first, but changes to a more rust color in a few minutes. Remember that anything with cyanide in it is extremely poisonous.
