Hi everybody!

I'm new in this forum, not new to magic, but new on the Café Smile

I searched everywhere for a comprehensive review of the dvd by John Cornelius called the FISM act. Have anybody seen it? Pro/cons?

Thank you for your help!

Jacob,

I got it and liked it. I think you can learn a lot from FISM award winners...especially those who go into detail not only in the hows but
the whys of their routine.

John teaches his routine step by step...even going into how to make the
props (back then the shrinking card case wasn't available commercially).

I don't think anyone will perform the routine in its entirety, but you may
use pieces of the routine and some flourishes in your own work. The main value
of the DVD is stepping inside the head of a FISM champion and seeing
what they're thinking while preparing to compete.

It's worth the money to me...but if you're looking for more and more tricks to
do you'd probably be better off with something like one of the Bill Malone DVDs, which are excellent by the way.

Sounds very good! I'm not looking for new tricks, I'm looking for some nice productions and cool smooth flourishes.

What about the "Oh, Calcutta Shuffle"(what kind of name is that?) Is it good, and is it a full deck false shuffle?

John is a creative genius. But, I didn't care for the FISM act.

Oh Calcutta shuffle is pretty easy to do and very deceptive. It's a false hindu shuffle. The name comes from a musical called Oh Calcutta, Calcutta being a city in India. There's a very interesting thing with the shuffle. It can look more real than a REAL hindu shuffle.

Hi all,

John does some good stuff. I heard through the grapevine that he is not really producing any more, as he is so burned out that so much of his stuff has been ripped off. That's really a shame.
