That's a clip from Hutchinson's site with claims that well you go judge for yourself. Called "The Hutchison Effect" he has vid clips and details on his work. I think he still refuses to hit the labs of The Amazing Randi and take the million dollar challenge as have most with similar claims.
For now I believe it's just baloney but I like it as a form of entertainment. I don't dare think (actually my little mind can't comprehend) how dangerous I'd be could I harness that effect. |

In reading about Hutchison, I found that most of his experiments were just that experiments. He did not take notes. In fact there was a TV crew at his place once when he was showing off some of his stuff, and things began to levitate. He was totally unaware of it till someone from the crew pointed it out. Thus began the H-Effect. Without proper funding, they remained experiments.
It's funny how people on this forum whom are magicians are rather angered by Hutchisons claims when they themselves are trying to convince people that they can do the most extraordinary feats. (Magic) Does anyone else tell people that their magic is fake? I hope and guess not. So, easy on the guy..... it's hard to be inventive with no funds to support your claims. |

An experiment is not defined by NOT taking notes. "most of his experiments were just that experiments. He did not take notes." do you know how silly that sounds?
What was the TV crew doing at his house and what was going on when things started to "levitate" unbeknownst to Mr Hutchinson? There was another topic that posted a video clip where he levitates the spaceship and the string is visible in the frame. Hmmm. Magicians don't tell people that their magic is fake. They don't have to, if a magician made claims of true magic he would be debunked. Like Hutchinson has been. If he could recreate even ONE of his "experiments" in the face of scientific scrutiny, he would have all the money he needed to go ahead. He just hasn't found the right sucker yet. And when he does, watch out. Cause that's gonna be one ticked off benefactor when Hutch gets through with him. If he ever got a huge chunk of money in his hands from someone he'd be risking his very life I imagine.

Do you think, for even a minute, that were ANY of his claims suspect of veracity, that he would not have been extradited and treated as a resource of our national interest?
Here in Westchester NY, we have a couple of companies that offer products that use voltages and frequencies close to what he mentions. Yes HUGE AC sources and equipment with very large capacitance and inductance, or reluctance when discussing AC. Where are the notebooks with settings and calibration data?

LOL. I must admit, the guy certainly comes up with some clever explanations.

The behavior of the objects make me suspect superelectromagnets. I wonder what would happen if I left a burrito nearby. One with a bite taken out of it. And with a carpenter's nail in it. About 8 inches long weighing a pound. Or a ball-peen hammer head.
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy; The way into my parlour is up a winding stair, And I've a many curious things to show when you are there. Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain, For who goes up your winding stair -can ne'er come down again. |

Is this not simply a case of upside down?

Well something has to be holding it before it "levitates" or falls...
I was thinking upside down with electro magnets holding things in place before that myself... I loved the ice which was supposedly water which left the cup in the exact same shape with the same hard edges and everything... or that you couldn't even define the effect because it acted differently in any situation, like he was making it up as he went along. |

I noticed that nothing levitates while people are in view? All that is shown is the object. Think about reverse photography where the objects aren't really levitating but are being dropped to the surface and the clip is shown in reverse. Watch the pie plates and aluminum foil. I could be wrong but that's how is looked to me.

I just viewed an episode of amazing science on The Learning Channel (TLC). Hutchinson was interviewed! He introduced himself as a scientist with an eighth grade education who stumbled upon an amazing phenomenon. He stated that the effect would not be duplicated for political and security reasons on that program. WHAT? TLC was allowed a tour of the lab in which these effects were videotaped. And a short review of the video tapes without conclusion.
He spoke of the effect, how it is achieved, and some of the equipment he used. If what he spoke of was true and accurate, then I felt like a caveman listening to Edison talk about his incandescent electric lamp - didn't understand a thing the man said. Certainly raises the question whether the man is that far ahead of his time or a total fraud? |

I watched the Video clip and it was really blurry so I don't want to make any comments on that but there is no way that he levitates things with some amazing phenomenon other than a trick. There has been many and there will still be many who claim to be able to do the impossible. My honest opinion is reversed photography especially if you look at what happens to the item prior to it being levitated. The movements if you reverse it is the same that would happen if something was dropped. Just my opinion.

This is funny because I have been working on my first levitation and I was going to use my air compressor and make some mechanical apparatus to theme it as science rather than the standard hypnosis routine.
Until I read the comments I didn't realize the guy expected us to believe it as true levitation. The only true levitations I know of are: tungsten and earth magnets and being in outer space, which doesn't really count! |
