Wow, that totally sux. Yes. This is DRM. I have a dream : a world without DRM ... LOL ... this is a beautiful dream, but this is a dream. DRM seems to be good for salesmen (it's just an illusion), and is really bad for customers. |

I love to say it, but I told you so.(both about effect and DRM it would come with).
Hype is RARELY correct especially when fabricated like it was, and DRM is never ever good.... I think anyone should have been able to see this coming a mile away especially how Greg appeared on the magic scene solely for this effect and then vanished after the initial "hype-sales" were over with. |

My reason for wanting a DVD and not a DRM dwonload is precisely for the reasons listed in this post. I hate to see Greg not responding to these posts or to PMs. He is a very talented guy and I have enjoyed some of the coin moves he put on videos and shared with the Café members. I'm sorry to see him "disappearing" and not supporting his Cosmos effect. Mike

Well, when he tries to appear with something else, no one will buy it. Not ever. Not any product this clown offers.

Can't you just open the video with virtualdub and then save it as an .avi?

2 things:
1: the latest virtual dub(and past couple version) wont open .wmv files due to troubles with microsoft. 2: Most DRM with WMV works by having it encrypted and then using the unlock keys to un-encrypt it, however since he says he deleted and reinstalled his windows installation that would mean the keys are probably gone or invalid... So no, you can't simply open it up in virtual dub and save as .avi.... If you DO manage to get a key and can view the video, then you can either capture it to an .avi through software, or use a program that turns the DRM'd file and the key into a regular .wmv file, and then use an OLDER version of virtual dub(or a current version of a microsoft liscensed video editor) to open said file and save as .avi or whatever. Basically once you have the video unlocked on your PC its easy to remove the protection and have a copy-able, trade-able and watch-able video, but if you don't have the unlock keys, then you are missing part of the files needed to get good video out of it and is impossible FYI(depending ont he scheme) to get good video out of it. |

Hi guys,
Sorry about the late reply. I just got back from (yet another) business trip. Here are some answers to your questions . . . 1. If you've emailed me without a response it's mainly because I'm really busy with a LOT going on in my life. I know that is NO excuse, but I will PM everyone with a complaint about their DL of COSMOS or DRM. I will send you a new link for a new DL. 2. I didn't just put out a trick and disappear. Unlike other magic vendors that are not even on the Café, I answered everyone's questions about COSMOS when it came out. 3. Why is the DVD late? Well 2 reasons. First I've been busy with other things. Second, I've been developing a better version of COSMOS, which will be available for free to all my COSMOS customers. Trust me . . . the wait is WORTH IT, this new COSMOS is really good. 4. There will be a new demo video with NO edits. Unfortunately for magic dealers of today, many young magicians will loop a demo video 1 million times and play it frame by frame to figure out the method. Imagine if the thumbtip was released today . . . people would loop it until they would realize where the silk went. In the old days, you would go into a magic shop, the dealer would perform something for you, and if you liked it, you would buy it. You couldn't ask him to do it again in slow motion . . . That would just simply be RUDE. 5. As far as COSMOS being the best OOTW or not. OOTW is a passion of mine. I’ve really seen it all. I think COSMOS (especially in its latest form), is the best OOTW out there. For every version of OOTW, there is a weakness (including COSMOS). I believe COSMOS has the least flaws. 6. I’m sorry if I’m not constantly posting replies about COSMOS on the café. When I first put out my trick, answering everyone had taken over my life. So I hope you’ll forgive me if future answers to this thread will be short. all the best, Greg Rostami |

What else do you do outside of magic ( so I can avoid those products ).

Lol... I knew you worked with lightwave and animation master, but that demo had be cracking up!!!
To think, a 3d package that allows you to not only move vertices, and move groups of verticies, but ALSO LETS YOU UNDO!!!!(cutting edge here...) I like the texturing, but I'm not sure I'll be leaving my Zbrush, but the texturing looks good. If you don't mind anwering, what do you think the best part of animation master is? I mean many other programs have global illumination, AO, caustics, ect and do many other modeling, animations, ect.... |

Hi Daegs,
The demo is not intended to impress veteran users of 3D programs, it's intended to impress everyone. The best part of Animation:Master is it's interface and Character Animation. We never subdivide into polygons when we render. The list of innovations in Animation:Master are too many to list here . . . Hash Inc. is the oldest 3D software company in the world. I've been with them for 14 years. We've come up with lots of clever things to make visualization easier then any other technologie at any price. Now if only ZBrush could animate . . . ;-) take care buddy, Greg Rostami |

I'm glad Greg has once again found the time to begin posting once again to the Café forums. Hopefully, he'll be able to give us an update regarding the DVD version of Cosmos which he ad once been promising would be shortly available and forthcoming.
I won't buy a DRM version of the effect but I'd be interested if the DVD is a non-DRM version. Anyone know the answer about this? Mike

Lol true true... Zbrush isn't a standalone app, but it does fill a niche that I think many other programs are missing(brush based work and some of its texturing features blow by others).
Interesting about not falling back on polygons... any demo's around to play around with the interface? The demo actually reminded me of a bunch of tutorial video's on simple animation and character modeling that were in animation master, but they did seem to be compatible with other programs(well I found the tutorials interesting at least)... Will rewatch to get a better idea of the workflow. Good luck with things and getting this cosmos stuff worked out |
