Have you guys ever heard the Fat Joe song "Lean Back"? Its a rap song that came out this year... I always think of this song when ever I see Doug or hear about The Lean. It would be great to even use the instrumental for a performance of it... its a very recognizable popular beat. Lean back, Lean back, lean back...
As far as my set of poker chips, I LOVE THEM!!! The fit is perfect, the chips are authentic, they have a nice weight to them, and with the clean ending... it kills for sure!!!! I was able to do this trick in about 5 minutes. I want all of Porpers stuff! there should be a contest to win all of his effects! a big raffle! what a collection that would be! -Jesse |

Jessiah... hey, I'm coming to Boston (Nephew is racing for the NY Athletic Club) in the Charles River regatta (rowing) in a couple of weeks. Hope to find some good clam chowder and lobster! Then driving out to the end of the Cape (I think).
Where are the buskers working?

Hello:
I have a question for anybody who has this. Are there any discrpencies along the side of the gimmicked chip? In other words, is there are two-tone edge like there is with the standard C/S/B gimmick? If there isn't a discrepency, I see this as a big advantage over the C/S/B. I have to say that I was very dissappointed when I saw some of the negative reviews coming out about the nesting of the gimmick. But, Pete has addresses those concerns completely. I'm going to order one, but I think I'll order directly from Joe Porper to make sure I get one of the new ones that people are saying are perfect. Some of the dealers may have old stock. Ron |

$100 for Poker Chip Surprise is not an expensive price for what you get...the quality, and the simple instructions make this one of the best closeup effects for 2005! I don't think Doug would give us any bs... I actually don't even understand why there is any discussion... THERE AWESOME!!!
Hey Pete! I would have to recommend going to Faneuil Hall for the performers... Also, there should be some good spots to eat too... the union oyster house, and tons of food in quincy market! The Cape is where you'll get some great lobster! When your in the city, you should come visit Hank's store... Saturdays are a great day to stroll by... you never know who'll come in! There is also a magic show in Cambridge every tuesday night at the Hong Kong... I can get you more info if you'd like. Talk to you later -Jesse |

Pete,
I have a tendancy to be rough on my props. How rugged is the gimmick? Pete |
|||||||||
Pete Biro 1933 - 2018 18558 Posts |
Whaddya mean by rough? Do you jump up and down on them? Uh, you start with it in a leather pouch and finish with it in the pouch. If you set it AS IN INSRUCTIONS it is pretty safe.
But, if you like to place items on the floor and walk on them, that's another story.

Yeah, then you'd be in for a nice $89 surprise!!!! I'll say it again, the leather pouch is a key feature! Its looks almost like something a vegas dealer would have, like a little wallet with the days tips... hmm...
ps: I'm not broke, I'm "monetarily challenged" LOL!!! |

I'm sure this is a killer item. Over the years I used to buy on impulse and now I go a lot slower. Since I don't use brick and mortar shops and can't see, feel the items, I have toi ask lotsa questions.

I agree... I don't like to buy things I can't "see, touch, feel" -- HOWEVER, in many cases that's impossible if there are no magic shops to visit. So, you have to trust the reviewers.
Comments on BBS's are often UNRELIABLE... how do you know the level of experience or the skill level of most of the posters? Especially those with BOGUS names. As I have written before "I hate posts by those that don't use their real names."

Pete makes excellent points as always. The internet doesn't allow someone to see and feel and dealers don't give refunds. So yes, we have to take the word of those whose opinions we respect.
As far as real names, another great point. When I signed up in 2002, I looked around and saw all these fun magical names, so I picked one ( anthony Miller and John Mendoza don't use their real names, probably for the same reason). I didn't think the Café would be around more than six months and certainly didn't think it would have attracted the high caliber pro's that it has, so I didn't think of using my full name. Hey, at least half of it's there;-)
