Recently I have been collecting as many theme songs from various TV shows I loved as a child, (and I still love).
I was wondering what some of your favorites were. Some of mine are the themes from: Doug (One of the original 3 Nicktoons) Seinfeld X-Men Gummi Bears Ducktales Inspector Gadget These are only a few, but I don't have the patience to type them all out. |

Although most people remember the sitcom shows, I tend to remember the weird cartoon songs like Cool McCool's theme song, or Top Cat or wally Gator or Go Go Gophers or Gorilla McGilla, etc.

I was an 80's and early 90's kid, so I have many fond memories of Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck, Gummi Bears, Garfield, and many others. Those were some good catchy tunes.
As for live action, Family Matters has a nice theme. And I can never get that Full House theme out of my head. Does not mean Its great, but that darn song will not get out of my head. Welcome Back Kotter was a bit before my time, but thanks to TV Land, I now have that theme song in with a bunch of theme songs I downloaded onto CD from Limewire. Star Trek TNG is also a favorite theme of mine. It defines the best of Trek whenever I hear it. Oh yeah! I just remembered another favorite theme, the 80's version of Alvin and the Chipmunks. Brian |

Over and Over and Over again! I liked the one they did when Cool McCool would set up the cartoon that was supposed to be his father's adventures as a cop! "Now Number One thinks me a fool! Has no respect for the name McCool. But it days gone by way up at the top, there was Harry McCool, he was my pop! My pop the cop!" I like the Superchicken theme song, but I can only remember a couple of lines!

For singability and recognition, you can't beat "Gilligan's Island"
The very first cartoon I ever saw was "Dodo the kid from outer space" and I can still sing that song.

Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy; The way into my parlour is up a winding stair, And I've a many curious things to show when you are there. Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain, For who goes up your winding stair -can ne'er come down again. |

The theme from Welcome Back Kotter is actually a pretty decent song that made the charts.
John Sebastian agreed to do the song only after the producers agreed that he would not use the words "Kotter" or "Sweathogs" in the song. Posted: Sep 26, 2005 12:44pm Alice. Espically Linda Lavin,s "scat-singing" over the closing credits. Maude. "Joan of Arc with the lord to guide her/She was a sister who really cooked" Hawaii Five-O. Just rocks. Remmeber this show?

You're all too darned young and have been warped by having only that utter garbage from Hanna-Barbera to provide "fond childhood memories."
I can't help grinning like an idiot when I hear the "Betty Boop" song ("Made of pen and ink..."), "Popeye the Sailor Man" (Fleischer black-and-white Popeyes only) and "Puffing Billy" (Captain Kangaroo's theme). |
