I read on another topic that there was true Mind-Readers on this forum. Does anybody know of a true Mind-reader on the Café'?
Also, is there any books or something that would make someone an actual mind-reader(or at least be close to one)? Alex

I don't need to be a mind reader to know what the Mentalists here are thinking when reading your post.

There are plenty of books that teach you mentalism techniques. I am not aware of any books that will teach you how to actually read someone else's thoughts without resorting to trickery. I'm sure others will chime in with suggestions, however |

Hellstromisim (CMR) is considerd by some to be true mind reading and that can be learned.

However, to me it still seems like pseudo-mind reading, as you're not really reading someone's mind, but rather subtle cues given off from their movements. It's one thing to find a hidden object while holding the hand of the person who hid it. It's quite another to stare into someone's eyes and tell them --correctly, and without using any mentalism techniques -- that they're thinking about a pair of hiking boots. |

Robert Nelson on page 8 of his book "Hellstomisim" wrote; "if you are to be a highly developed exponet of Hellstromisim, you will frquently experiance 'knowledge' from some source other than through the medium of the five normal senses."
I think there is a fine line between pseudo-mind reading and the real thing that starts to get crossed the more you practice. Kent |

I have not taken the time to specifical practice this ability, but I find if I am doing CMR with cards and develope a rapor with the person and if it feel right, I just have them think of a card and then I tell them what it is. I mostly feel the line gets crosses when I am doing a cold reading, what ever method I use to start it, then when I start picking up certain energies, impressions or a change in that clear aura everyone seems to have, it seems to changes over to the real thing if I start telling them what I am percieving. Unless I am mistaken I just assumed this happens to everyone. I have been stumped afterwards when asked if I am doing it for real. I just say I am using psychic techniques (because I intermingle them) but in my own mind it is not that cut and dry.

I'm a bit curious about this thread. IMO we all are mentalists since real mindreader also use techniques of cold reading and others. We all are using verbal and non verbal clues.
So its all about definition of the phrase "real mindreader". I would define a real mindreader that he up to the point can tell you an information you are thinking of wihtout any pumping, questioning and all the other techniques of cold reading, CMR and so on we mentalists use. So the I agree with Kent that we all can develope our senses as I also did in getting more experienced to read body language, reactions and all the techniques. So we can increase success rate by some amount. BUt we never would get to the point, at least up to today, as I define a "real mindreader" because than a 100% success rate would be the result and that would make all the beautiful peek devices useless. But again its a term of definition so when asking for some "real mindreader" one should define exactly what kind of abilities he is looking for. Well just on addition. Just in case, of course I didn't want to provocate with this but just to show that such general questions can lead to some misunderstandings in meaning and definitions. Best wishes THomas |
