Hey gang...
Some of you know we have been spending a long time working on our new water torture cell for Kristen. We rented and toured with the one from Cannon's for six months, then started working on ours. Due to a car wreck which hurt Kristen and a lengthly process in working on a new design it has been two years since she has performed the water cell. Well in early August our new cell was completed. It was unveild in Minnesota naer the end of August. We did a photo shoot and shot video of it two weeks ago. Even with a long time between attempts she did very well, what a trooper she is (ok, I'm biased...LOL). Well she was under 1:54 and the video turned out pretty darn good. We had been keeping the design a secret for awhile. But now we want to show our peers. It is different in that it is not square or rectangle. It is a cylinder. It is 27" outside diameter and 72" tall. It was custom made and has no frame and best of all...NO SEAMS...read that again, no seams. It was cast as one solid piece. It gets it strength from the shape and because of that it is much much lighter than other tanks. Empty it weighs 175 pounds. The lid, rolling cart and custom ladder are all made of aluminum. The welding work is incredible. There are two chains on the outside of the tank that attach via locks on the lid and run down to the cart. The caster that were used make this tank easy to move when full by ONE person. When full it weighs in at just under 1500 pounds. That is roughly half of what most tanks weigh. There are several pictures on our website. The link will take you to the gallery. I couldn't post the links directly as they open in javascript. Just browse thru and check out the different pics of the new cell as well as a full page ad for our show which includes Kristen in the tank. http://livingillusions.com/?gallery I'll add more soon. Kevin P.S. There are some pictures of the Cannon's tank there as well from the 2003 Escape Convention.

That is a really nice looking tank! The cylinder shape brings a really old escape right up to date. Congratulations! I wish you all success with it. When can we see the video?

Kondini....
that's the beauty of it. kristen never covers up the water cell. She has done it from day one completely visible. Now without any frame work at all even better as she can be esily seen. Kevin

Wow! What a fine looking bit of equipment. It’s a great magnifier too! It has a very modern look (in an Art Deco kind of way!). Good thinking and great innovation! One of these days I’ll actually get to see you perform it!

Wow! The cylinder looks great! Can you tell us a bit about how Kristen is secured. There seems to be chains on the outside of the tank. How are they used in the escape andhow is she chained?
I cannot wait to see the video. IMHO this escape done in full view is better than the original water torture cell escape. Kudos for topping the most famous escape. Hopefully your new agent will get you to the east coast. I am not able to attend the Cannon Convention this year but would love to see this performed live. By the way, in a former post you talk about some publicity shots in a pool. Did you ever release them? |

Thank you for the kind words everyone. We are really digging the new water cell.
Kristen is bound by S&W handcuffs, S&W leg shackles, Darby neck collar, which is attached to the handcuffs. The lid is secured with two American padlocks on the outside , the hatch within the lid is secured by another American padlock on the inside. The chains you see on the outside are secured by the two American padlocks up top and attatched at the bottom on the outriggers. The chain is more for astetics, but also does keep the lid from raising any higher when the outside locks are in place. We thought they created some nice lines outside of the water cell. We still have one thing that needs to be finished...and that is to add the air bubbles....they create a nice effect and are in the Cannon's water cell. The underwater photos have not been released yet..I will try to get them up on the site soon. Once the water cell was completed, everything else took a back seat. Thanks again for your support guys and gals....it means a lot to us. Kevin & Kristen

Kristen and Kevin,
The Water Cell looks splendid! I am not sure if you will be performing it at the convention, but if you are, it would be such a delight to see it. It was fun watching you perform your escape in the old leaky one and an honor to help you set it up at the Indy show. If you will not be presenting the new one at this time, I would like to wish you nothing but good luck and continued success with it. Looking forward to seeing you two at the convention and seeing you perform whatever it is that you will be doing. mark O--O

Wow! All that I can say is that is one of the nicest pieces of escape apparatus that I've seen in years. Truly splendid! I'm sure that Kristen gives a performance befitting of such a nice piece.
Cheers, -Matt (TK) |
