I think the last Mind Freak episode was by far the best.
Both wall walks were wonderful. I loved seeing them several years ago on Supernatural and I am glad he ressurected the illusion once again. I think it also would have been cool when he was maybe 2-3 stories up if he were to "jump" off the wall and land back on again several times. Then with one big leap he jumps off the side of the building and levitates down. I really liked seeing the coin in soda can he did. I was looking at the dvd for a while and I am still contemplating it. The one thing I didn't like about it was the fact that he said something to the effect of, "This next trick is something I will be putting on a DVD..." He is selling that DVD on his website where he has tens of thousands of layman fans in his forum. Now they all know about it and that trick will be out the window. What a shame The Chain through neck was nice but I think he over acted it. At first, I thought he may have been performing the Iron Garrote. Overall, it was a nice effect. However, I don't think that chain was just lying there, it looked like it was planted. A shiny new chain on a dirty old dumpster... Finally, my favorite trick of the night was when he crawled through the window. It was one of the greatest things I have seen him do (aside from the levitation and the wall walk). It was pure simplicity. I don't care if he spent 1,000,000 dollars on camera tricks and everyone there was a stooge, it was awesome. Great Job Criss, keep it up! Derek Merdinyan |

I have to admit I liked this special A LOT more than any of his others. Perhaps this is because he did more actual magic. The walking through a window was my favorite of his pieces. So what if he used stooges, they were less agregious ( spellcheck that one) than usual.
The coin in can though simple was amazing. I do like that a lot. The chain was nice also. The wall walking left me cold again and reminded me more of his earlier specials. All and all I liked this effort a lot more. Good for Chris I hope he does well.

The chain effect looked EXACTLY like Iron Garrotte, down to the knot in front of the neck, Peter Loughran's illusion. It was great for me to see him perform something I perform so I could compare notes. Many of my friends who have been lukewarm about his specials really liked this one a lot! Everyone knows I record every episode and it's the first one of which everyone has asked for copies.
I loved the wall walking, not just because it was beautiful, but it really fit his character. I wish I didn't know how he passed throuh the glass. It's such an awesome effect and his take on it was very cool. I've been consistently impressed with the overall production on these specials. My only real criticism is that I wish they would cut down on the overconcerned brother shots. It worked well for a couple of the effects, but it seems to be a running theme in every episode that is losing its useability. 3 of my friends have commented that they weren't buying it, and that it's a little annoying to constantly show his brothers "worry" all the time. One of my friends said it seems to him that that is Criss' brothers only job. I'm not mentioning this to start a new spinoff of negative posts about Criss, because he has been one of my favorite performers for the last 6 years. I was thrilled to see he got such a huge run of specials, and even more thrilled to see how they have been turning out. His character may not be every one's cup of tea, but then again, name one performer who IS. I think he is breath of fresh air from sequin vests and cheesy wind blown hair poses. What has struck me is that several of my friends DON'T like his persona, yet they tune in every week to see what he's going to do next. THAT is a successful entertainer! |

Yes, the Window effect was amazing. The walking down the building was equally impressive. He makes levitation look great. I wish I could do that in real life. Not the illusion but for real!!!!
Did you notice that it seemed like he got the eebee-jeebees and started to crawl down the wall of that tall building? Maybe there was wind or something that caused him to bail out of the famous posture of standing horizontally. Perhaps it was a problem with the wiring. The shots of the brothers are always showing them with great concern. This time I wonder if the concern was for real because it looked as if there was a problem. But Criss took it like a great performer should and carried on as if it was part of the show! Are they going to repeat this episode. It seems like they have repeated all the past episodes alread. Some that are already being shown 3-4 times. (The hanging barrel 3 or 4 times, the Hummer + Nails 2 times, and the park levs 2 times. ) The above counts are approximations... forgive me if I erred! |

I can't for the life of me remember where I heard this, but If I remember correctly, it was from a reliable souce. Criss Angel is now in the process of filming season 2...
The DVD set of the shows are going to come out soon I believe, but the coin trick will not be taught on that dvd. The trick will be taught on a separate dvd which he already is advertising on his website. Derek Merdinyan |

Criss was one of the very first people that recieved my Iron Garrote at the time of release. We also thanked Criss in the credits section of the intsructional booklet of the Iron Garrote for taking the time to test the product out. When we sent him the Iron Garrote a couple of years ago, it was more of a gift for him to use on his friends and family in real life situations, as I knew this was right up his alley. Im just happy to see he performed it very effectively on his latest TV special with is own style to the effect.

Hi,
I live in Italy and I don't have satellite TV. So I cannot see the specials you guys are talking about My question is: are they copyrighted? Is it possible to find them somewhere online? Thanks Davide |

I know you can try a P2P filesharing program like "Limewire."
However, I was only able to find two episodes. I also know that episodes might start being available on ebay and I know for a fact the A&E website sells them. Again , tho I am not sure if they ship to Italy. But do ask them. Best of luck. |

This is about the latest episode.
The C4 Crate. I must say it was THE WORST episode I have seen so far.(Partly due because I stopped watching mindfreak for a couple of weeks.)The shows get SOOOOOOO repetitive and SOOOOO boring. We all know the worried brother, hell everyone has already mentioned how they are sick of hearing him...ha. Then we have the magic. Soooooo amazing, sooooo inspiring, sooooo unique and INCREDIBLE. I AGREE! He and his crew are AMAZING at creating magic. It is so astounding. But quite frankly I don't feel Criss has the ability to pull off those type of effects. He isn't as good as he appears to be. He is only incredible because his effects are so good and he looks kinda cool in a dark kind of way. Had it of been another magician we would of looked at how HORRIBLE his patter is. Even if JOhny Thompson did it! Its always with Criss..... "I'm going to try....."(then does the effect) Or "Look,look,look"..... That is it! No context or texture to the patter. Now today as mentioned was the WORST. While talking about the C4 Crate he just RANDOMLY does the most random thing I have ever heard in my life. He just says "while preparing for this demonstration I got inspired to do something with a quarter and my arm." (insert extreme surgical reveal technically done only.) What in the world does a coin and an arm have to do with a C4 Crate? Ha...then he goes on to butcher up the coins across, calling it "simple" and puts no emphazis to even do it in front of people! To add even more to that....the card effect in the beer was ridiculous. Why was he trying to be funny and weerd?Ha...it was sad. Oh yeah the C4 crate , where was Teller? That is the reason why I TUNED IN! Penn and teller just say a joke and that's a wrap.*By the way that joke was better than the show*........ C4 Crate...was like what? That's it?What was the point of that? ...... .... ... worst show ever. |

If his levitation effect comes out on this dvd do any of you guys know if it will be released on his websight. It kind of upsets me that if he releases this on his websight then just anybody can get it. He would probably say it on one of his shows like he did the quarter thru soda can trick and everybody that sees the show will get it and self levitation will come to a bitter end on that day.
and by the way guys STOP ARGUING and grow up some. We are all magicians its time that we grow up and act like mature adults here not little kids. |
