Man, just think of how good we have it nowadays! When it comes to impromptu magic all we need is a can of soda pop and we're in business! What do I mean? Well, I'm talking about the big three with a can of soda. First of all we have an effect where an empty can of soda magically fills up to the top, then we have Paul Harris's Fizzmaster, making the fizz travel from a shaken can to an unshaken can, and finally, in a week or two we will have "Sinful" where we can toss a borrowed signed quarter into an unopened can of pop! Man, this is heaven! We could conceivably do a whole mini magic show with borrowed pop cans! Talk about your commercial impromtu!
This is a great time to be alive, magic-wise!
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

Only one problem...Healed and Sealed isn't very impromptu, unless you are speaking of something else when you say, "an empty can of soda magically fills up to the top."

The line between what's impromptu and not completely impromptu is very thin.
Healed and Sealed I would consider impromptu since you can use any soda can with a moment's secret preparation. Not trying to argue, I'm all about love. Look at my pic, I'm nice. Rob |

I would not call Modèn's Healed and Sealed impromptu, though it seems impromptu to your spectators.
Wayne Houchin's Sinful is on the other hand the most impromptu miracle released in years. Using the two in combination makes for a interesting thought, Hmmmm.. -e-
...As long as i`m not a world-champion at anything, the great reactions of doin` magic will do just fine.....

The point is sinful is done when you have nothing, you borrow the coin, you borow the can, and can still do the effect. What a great party killer too to get you free drinks all night. I suppose David Blaine now has a great finnish on his TV show for doing his Healed and Sealed can, and then get a signed coin inside. If you took a can out of the bin or something as it is meant to be performed, and then amaze everyone with that by sealing it up and refilling it, you can ask for tips etc and have a laugh about getting paid for the effect, so you then say, not even a quarter or 10p depending where you're from, and then getting them to sign it and go sraight into sinful, what a routine.

Am I the only one who thinks that putting your mouth on the can spoils the entire effect?
I am only assuming you have to do that every single time. I was watching in utter suspense until that moment. Then I'm like... WHAT? C'MON! Now I'm a spectator looking back at the effect, was there ever a moment you could have slipped something into the can? Yes. Your tongue at the moment you covered the entire opening with your mouth. WHAT? C'MON! Rob |

This is true, just because Wayne on his website uses his mouth, he is only cearing the froth as there is quite a lot. Angel, myslef, and everyone else who performs this, even creator Wayne, don't use their mouth to get the coin into the can. You can do this effect with no mouth!!!!!!

Questions.
Is a quarter the coin used? Because if this is the case, the openings in the cans I've seen are larger than the quarter. On the video he say he gives the canned coin away so they can pry the coin from the can if they wish. Why would they need to pry the coin out if the opening is bigger than the coin? Am I wrong? Please enlighten me. |

It's mostly a psychological thing. Saying "Keep the can, pry the coin out when you get home" makes it seem more impossible. The opening does have to be bigger than the quarter. However, taking it out is much more difficult than putting it in. On the DVD, Wayne teaches a little subtlety that makes the quarter harder to take out.

I really did lose all interest at that point. Maybe I will check it out after all. But if the foam is necessary, I don't like the trick. It seems like a very bad spot in the routine to have an incident at the only opening in the can. Especially one as memorable as the magician playing "beer hunter" in his own face. I'm not trying to get the secret out of anyone so no confirmations or clarifications are necessary. This just stood out to me while watching the video. Rob PS. For those of you who don't know what beer hunter is. |
