How many basic laws of human stupidity are there? 10, 20, 500? Don't know? Why not?

Go here and find out.

http://www.ecotopia.com/webpress/stupidity/

Corollaries too!

(No names, please!)
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to show when you are there.

Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
-can ne'er come down again.

But don't assume that a corollary automatically follows. It is not necessarily true that WYOYN (when you're older you're not). Smile

It's a relative issue, Sir Greg. You can almost always find someone older than you, and younger than you. Everyone fits into the equation when paired with the right person. Smile

From the article cited above:

Quote:
Incompetence and the Failure of Feedback

One puzzling aspect of our results is how the incompetent fail, through life experience, to learn that they are unskilled. This is not a new puzzle. Sullivan, in 1953 , marveled at "the failure of learning which has left their capacity for fantastic, self-centered delusions so utterly unaffected by a life-long history of educative events" (p. 80).

Consider that conjuring is almost entirely driven by audience feedback.

Jonathan,

Well, there's also, "They laughed, so I kept it in!"

Sometimes people learn what they want from "feedback."

Maybe all this is just the flip side of "When the pupil is ready, the teacher will appear." Some pupils are never ready...

Yours,

Paul

I agree with you, you must be right.
Great minds think alike.
I knew you were going to say that.

I still don't get "WYYYS". Maybe when I'm older... Smile Smile Smile Smile
