Michael's quote reminds me of another, "If you're bored, you are probably a bore."
As an actor I meet a lot of people. Stage performers seem to be "on" more than TV/Film personalities. That said, the people I like best usually work behind the camera.

If I remember the context correctly, Michael's quote is from an essay about performing magic in social situations with the belief that it will make you more interesting. His argument is that it's dangerous to think that magic will automatically make you the life of the party if you don't already have the social skills to go with it. He's not talking about performing a professional act. |
