I,m just curious, you get actors appearing in A,adverts ,B,tv programs and C,films, and fees can range from ??? to millions from A to C ,in fact millions can be paid to an actor in an advert. What I would like to know, is there a set minimum fee laid down by television companies on what an actor should get ,or is it all about negociation, cause you could write a story for the press and get £100 ,but if the story was written by someone famous they may pay £50,000.TV adverts are what sponser the networks to show the films but I find it difficult to understand how a films can cost millions for the TV companies to show them and not get enough from the sponsers to pay for it.

Don't know about "England's green and pleasant land", but here in the colonies the broadcast-performers' unions are blessedly strong (people beg to get in) and provide a mandated minimum fee + residual pay (a commercial that plays for years will net performers ongoing fees).

A million-dollar actor might agree to appear for minimum (that's referred to as "working for scale", meaning the basic union chart of fees for local, regional and national commercials) but not less - and of course since fame is a commodity, the famous actor would probably never agree to work for scale (except in the case of an appeal for a charitable cause).

For current fee schedule, see http://www.aftra.org/contract/ctvrates.htm
