Journey is very poor. Again, this doesn't fit my "answer."
To an island. Would that be the center of the LP? The label
area is an island in a sea of black.

be the "thunk....thunk....thunk" beat that you hear when the
needle reaches the end of the LP? It's certainly not very wild;
it's the same (tame?) old "thunk...thunk...thunk."

I think I'm wrong, but can't come up with a better answer.
"Musical" + "table" got me stuck thinking about record
players. And I've been stuck in this rut for over a week now.

It seems Stephen is away from his computer. Can anyone solve
this riddle and put me out of my misery?

Well, my first record player was housed in a plastic box and it folded up with a handle so you could carry it--and it was blue!

Taking that lead brianmayo, we may as well go to "the cow says moo" toy that is blue and has a dial in the center (island) and you pull the string to go again.

It looks like you have the right idea, and likely even the right answers. For the 6th, the spelling is the same (due to the meaning). Had it been metric, then the spelling would have been critical - and to me, foreign)

I was scared you were going there with the blue box.

Pertwee had "Bessy" and Baker had "K-9" (I and II)

I don't recall any poor journeys though, including the latest which ended with quite a bang.

Not Bessie or K9 - neither were blue. You do have the right character they portrayed, though. There was a blue box that was prevalent in pretty much every adventure...

I should clarify that "Journey" is more a description (in the loosest possible sense) of the solution, rather than a clue word leading to part of the solution.
