I read an article the other day that said Sony was going to stop supporting the mini disc. Are there other manufactureres of the mini disc, or is it just Sony? Does anyone have any information related to this?
Thanks. Tony |

From what I'm hearing, rumors of the demise of mini disc recorders have been around for 4-5 years. It's possible that Sony will discontinue them but no official word has been announced.
I wouldn't worry about it until Sony makes an actual announcement. |

I'm thinking I might go with an ipod. I don't think those will be going away any time soon!

Sound quality on an Ipod (or any portable MP3 device) just isn't up to scratch for performance use. It sounds great on your headphone, Good on your home hi-fi but though anything over 1kw the music sounds terrible.
Burn your music at a high sampling rate onto CD if you want somthing good and universal.

Most people with iPods overlook Apple's "Lossless" audiophile codec.
http://www.neilturner.me.uk/2004/May/09/......der.html Even your best burned high sampled CDs are not lossless vs this technology as it is true to commercially stamped CDs. So Yes you can have full fidelity on an iPod. Rather than loading my pod with a gazillion files I always take up the additional space with lossless files. They can also be burned to CD with the latest version of iTunes.

I love my minidisc. I hope they keep making them for awhile. If they stop manufacturing them, I hope the discs will still be available.
