Is Blaine's special going to air on Halloween or his he fiming it then. That would awesome if it was live. If it is on Halloween then it might be going up against Criss Angel's TV Halloween special. This could be interesting.
Find out what you cannot do.., Then go and do it!

Blaine plans high-wire stunt
NEW YORK (AP) -- For his next stunt, David Blaine says he'll perform an "easy and fun" high-wire act in Manhattan on Halloween 2005. "Basically, it's something that's been done in the circuses, based on the old high-wire acts," Blaine told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "It's like family entertainment, this one." For his last stunt, in the fall of 2003, Blaine dangled in a plastic cubicle near the River Thames in London for 44 days with only small amounts of water for nourishment. He emerged 50 pounds lighter. The New York magician expects this next stunt will be less demanding. "It's my easiest one," he said, adding that the logistics aren't completed. "I want it to be simplistic and reachable for everybody. I was even going to call this one 'Easy and Fun."' Blaine, 32, said he recently reached a deal with ABC for four more shows, beginning with the Halloween stunt. His three previous ABC specials will air on TLC beginning Sunday. The programs include "David Blaine's Vertigo," when he stood on a small platform atop a 100-foot-high pillar for 35 hours in midtown Manhattan, and "David Blaine: Frozen in Time," when he suspended himself inside a 6-ton block of ice for 62 hours in New York's Times Square. While some have said his tricks no longer constitute magic in the traditional sense, Blaine said that's too narrow a view. "I think magic is whatever the individual defines it to be. I say it's all magic." |

"I say it's all magic."
-So... Enduring cold temperatures for 2.5 days is magic? -So... Laying around in a box for 44 days not having to do anything is magic? -So... Something that circus entertainers have been doing for hundreds of years is actually magic! Then what the heck am I doing?! Secondly... I think if Blane is going to have a special that is to compete with Criss Angel, there better be something better then just walking across a tight rope. If he vanishes in mid air from the wire in full view, then that's magic. Maybe true magic remains in the fact that he sees things differently then magicians do. And in that case, does that make Evil Knieval the true Houdini??? (I think not) Derek Merdinyan |

Hey for those who are interested Blaine's new special will be airing May 23, 2006. He posted this on his website, http://www.davidblaine.com, the other day. I guess we will have to wait a little longer...

?Tim Trono (owner of Murphy Magic) left a message on another topic asking people to submit tricks for his next special, so it sounds like there may be a lot more magic in this one. He also said Paul Harris was working on the special with him

I am not that exciting about his next special. I have heard about it before but I just found out about the wire act. I don't like the idea at all. what will come next? david blaine - the human cannon ball?
anyway , I heard he is looking for powerful effects to include in his special. a wire act is the best he found? good luck to him and I guess we'll al see how it turns out. -Matt

I don't doubt his focus on magic, he will most likely include lots of it.

I think it is funny how he is "competing" against Criss Angel with other people's tricks (vs. his own originals).
I also remember him saying something about jumping off of something high in the air into the water on April 4th 200_ Heres some trivia for ya, Blane loves the number 44. How many days was he in the box? April= 4 and 4 =>44. There were some other circumstances when he surrounded the number 44. Anyway, I think that is his birthday too... Derek Merdinyan |

Why do you said that Blaine wants to compete withe Criss Angel, Criss was the one who started the competition thing. Blaine had always better magic than Criss did. I think that his next special will be good. Blaine never said that he wants to compete with Criss , Criss was talking #%$#.Even if there is some competition going on , Blaine wins, because he was the first one to use street magic on tv , Criss took his idea. Criss has nothing, you sit in front of the tv for an hour and you see just six tricks. People judge the show and they didn't even see it jet. They don't even know whats the stunt about. I have respect for David Blaine and Criss Angel, but David Copperfield is still the King.

That's funny, his website features a portrait of himself with two devils on each shoulder.
I too am not a fan of the stunts, for they don't seem like magic to me. Human endurance and standing on a pole are basically not too exciting. The magic is! Still, he is a great magician when he performs magic. Funny thing is that when you know how a trick is done, you watch for all the tell tale signs of sleights. I found that when I first watched him I wasn't aware of some of the sleights and I found it amazingly unbelieveable, especially the card tricks. Now when I watch his card tricks, after learning those sleights, I can see them all. Now my consentration is on how he does the patter and over all methods. Still like seeing magic on TV. We missed it for so long on prime time tv. |

If it's a high wire stunt in New York, it's been done before. When the World Trade Centre was first opened, a magician (I'll have to look up his name) hooked up a wire between the two buildings and walked across, with nothing but a pole for balance.
Given the height of those towers and their devastating history, any other high wire act in New York would be somewhat anit-climatic. Just my opinion. Kent

Ahhh... Blaine controversy. I personally dislike his act(s). the whole "now this doesn't always work" No smiling thing really bugs me. Plus, even my laymen friedns have caught his often sloppy DL. Just one man's opinion.
