Everything is fast these days and it's getting faster. Fast food to fast marriages. It is what people are used to and what they expect and want. Peoples attention spans have got shorter. Fast magic is good because of that. Magic like all things needs to keep up with the pace of life. Fast food is not as good as slow, but fast is what they buy. We might not like the idea but I think you will find it is so.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

However, they will wait up to an hour for a table at a restaurant. The notion that every single thing is rushed is rubbish. The reason people rush through so many activities is so they can spend more time at leisure with friends & family. Like taking in a two hour movie, shopping, a backyard barbecue, waiting for luggage (only joking) or watching a good magic show. So, if you "have" an audience expecting every trick to be a flash of the raincoat, you don't really have an audience, because, you are taking their time away, time better spent at leisure with friends or family.
