I saw the show last week and he performed this effect; I might add, it was a comedy prediction routine, and hilarious at that!
Great show - especially the "lottery effect" which had me gobsmacked. Andrew |

Cool idea.
Leave it to Copperfield to conceive this. |

When I was growing up, the REAL magic was in NOT getting the girl pregnant.
My, how things do change. Peace, Parson

I am surprised that this is getting press coverage again. It sounds like it is the same routine David toured with a number of years ago. At that time many were questioning its appropriateness. I have heard the same again.

I think the most amazing thing I read there was goody-two-shoes Copperfield say "Bulls***!"
Hahahaha..... Looks like he is in the magic competition too. I havea feeling magic is heading for a Shock Rock kind of theme. Who can do the biggest special Fx. or who can get the most attention. Oh well...... If that's magic I guess I should change the name of the art I am doing like Criss Angel. He calls it mindfreak , I guess I will call mine.... *to be continued....* He... |

He is in europe at the moment. I've just recieved this review, by a non-magician, of his show in France.
It is a critical review, which I post for anyone thinking of seeing the show in Europe. I have no criticism of DC, I've seen him twice, several years ago, and loved the show. I'd be interested to hear other reviews of his european tour. "Well, very unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. It was a very small D.C., not at all the great miracle worker. All he had done was to bring to Europe his American show with American jokes which didn't work in French at all, and allusions to American things and tv programs which nobody over here knew anything about. It was laziness on his part. He could have done a little bit of work to make it compatible. The show itself was relatively short, about 1.25 hours. He tried to make it funny instead of grandiose, and it lost stature. He obviously was using stooges. He had people with strong American accents calling up from the audience as audience participation. He even actually once turned his back completely to the audience, and then produced "the miracle". Annie even saw him rushing behind a curtain, when he was supposed to be disappearing and making a magic trip to the other side of the world. And to make up for the lack of stature of the show, half way through he showed a film of himself showing extracts of him doing what gave him the Guiness book of records awards, like going through the Great Wall of China and stuff like that. It was just an advertisement of himself, even showing how he has his name in the concrete of the pavement where all the stars have written their names. In fact we had already seen all that on television. And that all lasted about fifteen minutes, during which he did nothing. Throughout the show he had to keep telling the audience to clap - which gives you an idea of the atmosphere. At the end, Annie and I looked at each other and both said "that was pretty poor". It was not polished and finished for the European market at all. It didn't take off. We were sitting there waiting for him to do something really amazing which would get the show moving and get us all enthusiastic and fired up. But when he suddenly said "that' s the end", we felt as if nothing had happened. And he didn't fly. He's living off his reputation and not doing anything really original. But he's making his money because the place was practically full. But with people who were expecting more than what they got." |

I' ve seen the show in Belgium and everybody loved his show! The problem is that French people can't speak and understand English ! You always dub English programmes in stead of subtiteling it! His jokes were very funny! David was in a very good mood in Belgium and he didn't looked tired. He enjoyed performing. His 2 shows were sold out ( that makes 14000 people in one day!!!)
Wow, the lottery prediction with the car were amazing! And he used a new prop for his " thru steel", with 4 hydraulic cranes. I had arranged a meet'n greet with David and he was very friendly with his fans. And the film of him lasted about 5 minutes and not 15 minutes as you said. And you say " he didn't fly". Did he have to do always the same illusion. When David does that , then I'm sure you will say" He always do the same illusion(s). |

I have something to add. Here is a local press clipping:
Magician David Copperfield announced last week his next trick will be impregnating a woman onstage without touching her. What have we learned? Move over, Tom Cruise and Michael Jackson. Copperfield is now officially the weirdest guy on the planet. Tomasko
