Hey Banachek, yes, Criss did mention it during the Toothpick trick. The only thing that he said was "Here is a trick that I will be teaching in my upcoming book", but that's all. He did not make any mention of the name or anything.
Paisa23: I agree with you. Why does everyone get up in arms when talking about Criss or Blaine? If people have such a problem with them then don't watch them! I don't like eating pickled onions, but you won't see me constantly sticking one in my mouth and complaining about it! I think that his book is going to be aimed more towards beginners and not working professionals. If that be the case, then there really is nothing wrong with that. People have to start somewhere. Now, if in this book he is going to be teaching advanced methods and sleights, then I agree that it should be password protected or at least do like Derren Brown does on his site and ask you questions about various sleights and terms to see if you are knowledgable enough to enter the store portion of his site. |

I find Criss Angel even more of an everyguy than Blaine. His visit back to his first magic shop brought back a memory most of us share.

Most of us MAGICIANS share, keep that in mind.
I thought that was a pretty dumb move by criss. When he showed everyone at home how he did the toothpick effect. Why in the world would you reduce a vanish to a piece of tape!!!??The comment I got out of everyone who saw it was , "so that's magic?".While true it is, they were pretty disappointed as if they expected a supernatural method for doing it. A method that took years(again it probably did.) I am just saying it took away ALOT of that great image he had going for himself. ATLEAST that is what I personally think he has good for himself....Oh and almost all of us too. Oh well. On to the auctual topic, I do agree Criss since he has placed the price so high on the dvd to make a password for magicians on his website. I got nothing againts "sinful:coin thru soda" but if you are going to charge that much for a levitation it should be kept secret from the general layman community. Why? We don't want em to honestly know one of the most amazing effects in theory we will get in a loooooooong time. If a person seriously gets into magic after the book and the coin thru soda then they should be worthy of buying the levitation effect. I don't want to see a "cool I know how to levitate",people either don't practice or just don't care and expose the method. That would plainly sux. Plus isn't that price to target magicians?Oh well, we know what we are getting into. As far as the original topic and book is concerned it is a beginners book. I don't see anything more amazing than vanishing a toothpick or a small version of the mark wilson book. We will see tho, I might be wrong...... |

I thought the US was a free country. Free to sell to whomever you want and to sell anything including magic to the people of the country. That includes giving away magic secrets just like everyone else that I bought a book from to learn magic did. That means that you as a magician is free to write your own book and sell it to either a few magicians in your community or to the masses if you have enough publicity. No one is the wiser. The laymen will only buy the book if they so desire to learn magic... in which case they are no longer a laymen, but a practicing magician. Just like you and me were at one time.
If everyone in the world decided top become a magician, then it's their right to do so and we will just have to wait for the next batch of children to perform our magic to!!!! Imagine how disappointed everyone would be if they found out the secret to the disappearing silk hanky. So if your disappointed to find out how he did the disappering toothpick, well, you sound like a laymen. Every magic trick is just that.. a trick. And everyone who cares to perform magic, whether it be on TV or not, is copying other magicians that have been doing it since Jesus times. No one is above anyone else and all are FREE to perform the same tricks that magician have been performing throughout the years. David Copperfield does the flying trick. Well there is a European named Peter M(?) that performs the same thing. No one is complaining. And this Peter also does the Card thru Window effect that is so similar to John Kennedy's that I too wondered why no one is complaining. But that just leads me to figure that magic is just that and all of it is available to the magician if he /she chooses to do so. And perform it to the audience to show their talent. Imagine if people complained that you did the classic pass - "well, how dare you, I saw someone else doing it and therefore you should not be performing it" That is ridiculous. Nothing new under the sun. It's what you do with it that will make you stand out. And I think since Criss is doing a good job of it, especially since he now is on the net, on tv, in books, and on DVD, well, that just goes to show how free the US is! |

Granted the US is a free country and you have rights to do as you please.
It's true..... But there is such a thing as a BAD MOVE too. So you can take it how you want, I STILL think it was a horrible move. There is however also absoultely nothing to do to change it , it already hapenned. I am a little affected, plainly because as I said magic has been reduced to a piece of tape. All because of angel.... But I guess that is the perks of doing anything. There will always be amazing people that practice a certain thing and people who ruin it.... I hope that atleast in the eyes of people there is some hope. I don't do it for myself , I do it for the laymen. For angel to come and kill it just ruins it, but you learn a lesson. Atleast I did.... Now, I will drop it to another level. It's "just a trick." Well, if that is magic to you, I feel sorry for you and all the people who could for a second magic is just that.A hooker can do a trick if you give her a couple bux, any monkey in the circus can do a trick , etc... Maybe it's just bad wording but, magic IS NOT JUST A TRICK. NOT FOR ME.... How many lifes has magic AFFECTED, CHANGED, FIXED , and helped thru hard times....?(think about that.) Just a trick still? Magic is real, it is how we and the people feel. You fail to realise that, well too bad.I guess persue your goal, I search for mine, and so should angel. Angel thinks money, power, and becoming a household name determines his success. Except for the latter I don't agree for ****. I'd be lying if I told you I didn't want millions,,,,,,,,,millions of people saved and enterntained. Bad moves,MOST magicians are bad moves. Whatever I won't put people down anymore. By the way I never did say I was againts people using same moves and effects. I am againts PEOPLE DOING SAME STUFF BADLY. When everyone spends their hard earned money ,patience , and art to get something good. Just for some punk to ruin it all , when again EVERYONE has the same rights over it, is bad. But the toothpick was an original(I think.) So do as you please with it, however don't come ruining and putting down other people out of business with suppose proof.(Icarus.) Angel....He is DECENT. I guess I am the only person not blinded by it. Personal, again maybe....... It continues...... |

"And his ripping off of blaine continues..... "
Lets see: Needles from stomache Walking through a store window His costume change into a blainesque outfit on his halloween show Constant street magic theme Monotone voice Repetetive stunts which seem to draw little publicity Card in Bottle And now the book! Looks like Criss may be a secret convert to Blainetology (As made famous by south park)! |
