In addition to magic, I also book myself out as a pianist/vocalist for a number of events. I sing in church, where I am the staff pianist, and I also perform in a lot of community theatre (all musicals).
I play the trumpet, and also played the euphonium (baritone) in high school. JMT |

Fiddle and piano. Not particularly great at either.

I've been on the run from being a jobbing pro musician (which I hated) for some time, now I teach music for a living so I can play and write for passion on my own terms, I can have a social life and don't have to rely on bread and butter gigs in order to pay the bills.
My main specialism is keyboard and vocals, though I also learn and use whatever instruments and equipment are required by the project at hand. I subscribe very much to the Criss Angel multimedia philosophy that music, magic and all performance disciplines are tools to sculpt your expression, so you should always strive to have the best toolbox possible. |

I used to play trumpet...but it wasn't my thing.
I'm learning to play the Spoons, though. |

I'm an acomplished violinist, but I started on Piano, tried french horn, and trumpet, hit a drum....one time, and I have dabbled in Jazz electric fiddle, but I'm not too much of a Jazz kinda guy.

I was on my way to being a concert pianist before I started magic.
University band I played electric guitar mostly Blues and rock but the parties almost cost me my degree that I don't use (imagine that) Highschool I played trumpet, trombone and baritone for Jazz and marching bands. Now I am just to lazy and I prefer busking a song or two with a band at a pub or club than actually practising sets with a band. It is more fun and less work. |

I have played (or played with) the Guitar since the age of 5 but I probably sound like the average person with a years experience. I played Trombone in Jr. High and High School and play fairly well (if I have written music to follow). And like most people, I can whittle out a melody on most instruments, although this is not really playing the instrument.
Music has always been something that I have enjoyed and I can't even imagine a world without Music. Iven

Off the point.
I went to a recording studio last night and for the first time in months played piano with a sax player. It was fantastic for my spirit. We just busked out some blues. The ladies loved it and we got tons of free beer. Without music there would be no imagination. |

I play bass and guitar, but my main instrument is drums, which I have been playing for 10 years. Have been playing the set on and off in performing bands for about three years (Rock, classic rock, jazz, country, blues, punk, you name it). I played drums in concert, marching and jazz bands when I was in high school, and was captain of my drumline for a few years. Funny how many magicians are also musicians...

I make my living as a Tech. for a Music Therapist.
I've been playing guitar since I was 15 yrs. old (I'll be 34 in July! The 26th in fact. Don't forget ). It's my primary instrument. Second would be bass (same amount of time, more or less), Keyboard a little, Drums a little more! but I have a ways to go! It really is a great job. I am proud to say that I love my job. I have had many that have sucked! I've been into magic since I was 20 (that's the 26th of July, people! hint, hint ). I've really been studying Professional quality slieght of hand since '1998. That's goin' on seven for some of ya out there. (Firedice. I had a feeling you probably were a musician. Rock on,Brother!). I also agree with the artistic side that we all must possess. I have been drawing since 6, and still do. I used to be a tattoo artist. 2 years (finished formal apprenticeship, left as pro. and will more than likely be going back). I tattoo better than I perform magic, and am confident with both although I am not a professional magician but love the art immensely. Ever since I was around six years old. Anyway, it's been awhile since I have visited the good 'ole Café! It's good "seeing" some of you guys! All the best, Lee.
In December of '06 I was diagnosed with a very rare cancer, Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans. One in a million people worldwide are diagnosed with this type of cancer annually. Sarcomas account for 1% of all cancers. Knowledge is power!

Pro drummer for 16 years starting with Air Force Band, then on the road for years with show bands, then studio stuff: cartoons, commercials, etc. Also, keys and guitar. Now I just write and record at home in digital studio. I'm not much of a singer but you can hear my writing and playing here:

Well, besides magic and music, I've been a dancer for 13 years and just graduated from the Conservatory for Dance Arts at the end of April. 5 years of Tap, 8 of Jazz, a month of Lyrical, a year of Modern (stopped being offered after my freshman year, but I keep up by myself), and 2 years of Hip Hop. I never took Ballet (but did a little of it for the first time at my audition for the Dance dept. at Western Michigan). But that's WAY off topic.
I started band on the French horn in sixth grade, but was placed on the Euphonium (aka Baritone) in 7th -- because I sucked major. Proudly, I am in the process of finishing my 6th and final year playing the Euph, and I have been 2nd or 3rd chair Concert band every time. I'v always wanted to play the harp, and plan on buying myself a Celtic lap harp after graduate school. I may also take up the violin in college if I can get some unfortunate soul to teach me. |
