Hi Everyone,
I have a question regarding how much power can you plug into one wall outlet, one circuit, before you blow the fuse. Is there a standard Wattage or voltage that it can withstand? Thanks. |

The answer is "it depends". You really need to see the breaker panel to know for sure.
Most common household/light commercial circuits are rated for 15 or 20 amps. And it is the amperage you need to calculate to avoid overloading. Also bear in mind that very often there are multiple wall outlets on a single circuit, so you have to take into account any items that might be plugged in there as well. |

Most commercail buildings will have 20 amps circuits. That means you can have up to 2400 idealy. Bear in mind that things wil affect your total available amps or watts, such as....length or cable, equipment getting hot, etc.
Also just for correct terminology, you would be tripping the breaker...hopefully not blowing anything. If you need more than 6-8 20 amps circuits I would recommend a distros. Stay with single phase...and 100 or 200 amp would be sufficient for most. Do not go cheap on the cable. Get entertainment grade cable for the leads. The best connectors to go with are Camlok. Hope that helps....I know it was more than you asked, but figured if you were asking about max power thought you should know some options. Kevin
