I am a beginner amateur magician from Mississippi. I have always been facinated by magic and as a kid I had a wonderful little magic set called "A Hat Full of Magic" and used to do little shows using it for the family. As an adult I recently (about a month ago) decided to get into magic as a hobby. I am currently studing Royal Road to Card Magic and plan to get Bobo's Modern Coin Magic next. I also plan to start getting and going through Tarbell Course. Right now I can do a few things based on gimmicks and they have their place but I want to really develop my sleights. I have a nice little collection of effects that is filling up my magic box to over flowing and my wife thinks I am cazy! Smile I recently was invited to join the Society of Memphis Magicians... I am little scared of being around all those "real" magicians... Lets see where my new hobby takes me.

Been there, did that. Smile
My wife don't think I'm crazy anymore. She's positive.

Sounds like you're off to a good start with the books you want.

Magic clubs are not for everyone but there's no harm in trying it for a year to see what it's about. As a beginner there's no need to be scared. Just let those "real" magicians know you're new to magic. They were once too.

Hi Mr.Bill,
Welcome to the best place about magic ever. You will find this as a invaluable source that you can not buy even with money. The people are so friendly as well as being helpful. The Café is such a the unique place for Magic. It is ever expanding and has over 22.000 members throughout the world. It will make a great contribution to your magic perspective. However, I would suggest another part of the menu "New To Magic" section. Do not forget to post often. You will find many new friends and many new ideas here. I predict you will like the Café.Please grab a chair and begin to type your next post while you have a cup of strong Turkish coffee on my bill.
