Can anyone tell the significance of the following sequence of letters?

ABCGIOPQRTUY

Actually "sequence" is not the most appropriate word for the situation. There's really no ordering principle here, so "set" is probably a better way of phrasing this problem.

I thought it might be to do with the "spelling" of the letters starting with the same letter as the actual letter. However, "D" isn't there, and "y" could be spelt "why".

The letters themselves DO represent something, but they are not initial letters and do not representative of a numerical sequence. I will tell you this much..."A" represents itself....now the question is, what do the other letters represent? What is this connection?
