Sad thing is, I don't know these abbreviations.

I might (or might not) know the moves being discussed. But I'm not getting it from the abbvs.

The problem is the abbreviations are not standardized in any way. DL is a double lift (horrors! will people not in magic even understand that?) the rest, you're guess is as good as mine and I've been in magic long enough to be a pretty good guesser.

I have been in this situation before. I did a really terrible double lift to show them what the guy was talking about, then I told my spectators that I can't do anything that complicated. Then I do the ambitious card routine, and it still blows them away.

Actually, this sounds like a scene early in "Magic" where Hopkins' character has "Fats" giving away secrets in the backgroud; "Look! He's doing a triple lift! He's lifting three cards and making you think it's only two!"
