Interesting. Reminds me of a show I saw a while back, titled The Most Outrageous Game Show Moments. It was hosted by Bob Eubanks who had insisted for years that the infamous "most unusual place you've ever made whoopee" comment never happened.
At the end of the show, they showed the clip from The Newlywed Game that proved that it did indeed happen. Snopes has the clip. Be warned, the story and the clip are not G rated, so I won't link directly to it. Go to snopes and search for Bob Eubanks if you want to see that this particular "urban legend" is true. Geoff

To get this somewhat back on topic, I have a bottle in my office that a friend brought back from Japan. It's a clear plastic bottle with a clear liquid inside.
The label boldly reads "Pocari Sweat". The bottle I have is the left-most one in the picture on this page: http://www.otsuka.co.jp/pocari_e/pocari4.htm 5 minutes with a native english speaker could have told them that their name did not connote "electrolyte replacement drink" but rather "have a bottle of someone else's perspiration." I find performing for different cultures in many shows
I do mainly a music visual approach & I also do learn a few sentences in there native language from someone connected with the show to say Hi & welcome & lets have a good time etc etc-This always goes over so well! Natural comedy can occur during certain routines so you don't need to speak the language fluent-Visual magic to music works!! |
