Thanks Frank for expanding on your statement...
However what you are talking about is styles... I was refering to effect only. In Lance Burton's act, regarless of whatever style he has, he is the one creating the magic. Dai Vernon has tons of effect, his style might be of reserved and direct, but every effect of his belongs in one of the three categories I stated earlier. So I understand what you mean...it's just not what I was talking about. All I meant was, that whatever the effect is, it is not necessary to explain what is creating the magic or how the magic is created. It's almost exactly like hypnosis...they have to want to believe, or at least not object to what's happening, but you must not bring critical faculties of the mind into action. If you state something that the audience doesn't believe or agree with, you will break the illusion. Again thanks for taking the time to respond, Alex Linian

Your original statement was: There are three ways in which a magician can participate in a demostration of magic: He can cause the magic to happen. He can watch the magic on it's own. He can fall victim to the magic and can't stop it. This would seem to refer more to presentation or perhaps an approach than to effect. It would have been more accurate to state there are three general catagories by which a magician may create an effect. The words participate and demonstration tend to muddy the waters since those meanings more closely align with the definition of presentation - of which I am sure you agree, are many and varied.
