What do you guys find to be the best pace/speed to produce silks/streamers/etc. from a phantom/ghost tube? Fast (and therefore ending the effect quickly) or draw it out a bit?
Thanks

Consistent with the rest of your act and your character.

I will go with Michael on this one. Before I added "hoopla" to the top of the act, I opened with the phantom tube. I work fast and slow. I do not cap the tube but just swing it around showing it empty. I clap my hands and remove the first silk. I do not notice the second silk a has popped up immediately and later do a double take to notice it. Same with the third. Now I pick up the pace, producing the rest of the silks until I get to the last silk. The last silk is a 36" tie dye which is an automatic applause due. I then gather the other silks and go into my big silk fountain.
So I do go fast and slow. I do a lot of facial expressions and body language to sell the effect. It works for me. Richard

Thanks guys. Great advice! I will be using the Phantom Tube as the last part of a
6 1/2 minute opening to music. While practicing to the music (the last segment is an Irish Reel type of thing), I was producing the loads very quickly, probably too quickly. I was concerned that slowing it down would ruin the effect. Time to get the video camera set up. Thanks~
