Something along the lines of having our lives torn apart by sin, meaning we can no longer do what we were created to do (just as the newspaper can no longer be read as it was intended to be read)

But the saving grace of Jesus Christ means that once again we can be 'recycled', or made whole again, so that instead of being thrown on the rubbish heap we can fulfill our purpose to bring God glory.

Does that help?

Bear in mind that is literally off the top of my head, so a lot of work will need to be done to make it all flow nicely!

Best regards

Mike has already given what I would ocnsider one of the best applications for a T & R newspaper effect.

To expand a bit, though. Jesus is Lord! And Jesus is Savior! Talk about what each of those terms means. Lord means we follow Him. Saviour means He sacrificed Himself so that we could be forgiven by God.

I suggest that as you go through each of phases of tearing, you relate to a particular sin; lying, stealing, etc, so you allow the kids to "own" or relate to one of them as you go. By selecting an illustration point that people can relate to, it tends to make the story more relavent and momorable.

Then before you reveal the restoration, review the sins, and explain repentance too. Asking forgiveness without offering repentance, is like trying to drive a car without fuel. It just doesn't go very far. So you can't leave it out of message.

Then once you have reitterated the sins, and explained repentance, you can ask each of them, to quietly, in their heart, repent (change their way) and ask forgiveness, and then show the restoration.

If you do a full flash restoration, you can apply the appropriate message and recap as a summary. Or if you do a partial retore, followed by partial restore, you can again remind them of the Sin that you used as an illustration during the tearing of the similar sized peice.

God Bless

If you are doing No Tear newspaper restoration, then I would use the patter that we are more than the sum of our parts...

I use it to talk about the church and how when one person gets together with another, and then another... well, we become something greater. Different stories, different people... but one purpose.
