I'd like any suggestions for magic tricks and routines that have an occult theme, or try to duplicate sorcery and wizardry. For some reason I seem drawn to tricks that simulate "real" magick...

Well, I guess you have come to the right place. Look around here; there are a lot of interesting ideas floating around here. Other than that, read and try to come up with ideas of your own. You can bend ordinary effects into bizarre and occult routines. Or you could just conjure up a demon and let him do the magick behind the scenes.

Before you to and insult the wiccans and others who practice a serious form of what we call magic, why not learn some about thier beliefs, practices and perspective?

I have actually been reading up on Wiccan practices for years. The whole belief system is somehow very appealing to me, but I'm not quite enough of a religious mindset to actually become a practicioner. I usually pick out tricks that can sort of fit within this mold, however. It's just my preference.

For that stuff, you should really have a look at Tony Andruzzi's BIZARRE, for sale at a princely sum at http://floraco.safeshopper.com/7/134.htm?314
Forget what it costs, it will make you smile (evilly of course). From there, sign up for Mind Over Magic at http://www.tctahoe.com/mom Don't ask why, just do it. Then put out your feelers for anything from Tony Andruzzi (collector's items - will take some time), Tony Shiels, Tony Raven, Jim Magus and Charles Cameron. Then I would pick up Eugene Goes Bizarre as there is some good stuff there. Exposes you to the genre. No go forth hence and don't sign any "innocent" contracts in blood, just yet.

Hmmm. These routines are interesting. But I think I was looking more for suggestions of actual tricks that are sorcer-esque inherently. You know, like floating staffs and such but not that cause obviously I already know about it.
