Does anybody have any tips on how to get the child safely on and off this without causing any unnecessary strain on the carpet? I would pick them up, but in this day and age, I'd rather not risk it.

I purchased a collapsable stool from ace hardware for about 12 bucks.
I put it in front of the carpet, have them stand on it, and then sit down. I then scoot them back a little bit as needed. oliver |

I do not do the flying carpet but I do the chair suspention and I use a small stool for that as well. It works nicely. I can help them up, but I always make sure I tell the child exactly what I am going to do and I ask their permission first before actually helping them in any way. It works well for us.

Three in a row. I also use the "step stool method" with the magic carpet.

It just works better because the child could do most of the work for you and you can be there to assist them if needed. It has always worked well for when I do the chair suspension. I can get them to stand up on the stool and then slightly lift them up so they are sitting on the board. The stool makes it much easier to do this. The stool I use also does not take up much room or block the view of the illusion.

Speaking of Thanksgiving. I am very thankful that we have this Café on the web so that we can share and help other magicians and help ourselves. Also, is anyone planning on any thanksgiving magic today around the table or anything? Just curious. It will be just my wife and I today, but she always brings magic into my life. =)

Here's another vote for using a stool. I use a Rubbermaid stool for the chair suspension.

Levitate them up onto the carpet! PM me for instructions. Just kidding. No PM's please.

Speaking of flying carpets and Thanksgiving. I used my carpet to levitate the turkey.
