Hi Al,

I was wondering if you had ever played around with Ross Bertram's coin assembly using two cards? How would you compare it to your Matrix routine, plusses and minuses of both? Did you ever meet Bertram or session with him?

Good to see you on the Café as the honored guest!

While I have heard the name Ross Bertram often, I have never seen him work nor have I read any of his material. I did not know he had a routine with two cards.

Come on Al - You remember Ross Bertram - he's the guy with the coin tricks in a book that you refer to quite often. For example, remember "Al Schnieder On Close Up", where you led into a trick "...Here is another routine which has roots in the Stars of Magic..." ? (Of course I've never read your book so I don't know what the material was - just kidding!)

Be honest Al, you really did read the Stars of Magic, didn't you? I mean, someone who advocates study and analysis with such fervor wouldn't skip a cornerstone of the magic literature such as "Stars of Magic" would he?

Yes I read Stars of Magic.

However, I have an excuse.

That was so long ago I did not recognize anyone's name.

Then, someone borrowed by copy long ago and I haven't seen it since.

That was Ross Bertram's stuff huh. Is he the guy with the big hair?

It was me Al, I also took your car and your cat. You can only have one back, so choose.

I remember seeing Al perform Matrix at the national IBM convention in St. Louis many years ago. I remember that it looked like REAL magic. Such a beautiful, perfect routine. There have been many variations, but Al's original routine is still my favorite.

Hi Al,

I'm actually starting to read your book on coins, so there isn't much for me to say, but as far as your coin vanishes they look very magical to me. I strongly believe what Robert says is true and I'd love to see you perform on real life (perhaps someday I will). Welcome and have a nice stay here at the Café.
