'Hypnotism: Learn to Hypnotize Yourself and Others' by Rachel Copelan, Ph.D. seems like a good introduction to Hypnotherapy. What does the Magic Café community think of this book?

Why does it "seem" like a good introduction to hypnotherapy?

I got this book when it first came out and after my training in the Elman induction method. I still refer back to it and think it has some very useful information on alternate induction techniques and overcoming resistance that can be used for stage work. However, unless you're a trained, licensed hypnotherapist I would not use the later chapters in the book.

It seems like a good introduction to hypnotherapy because I'm not really knowledgeable enough to be able to tell past a certain point how good it actually is.

I had it a few years back...a good basic intro to hypnosis. I agree with sgrossberg above that I wouldn't go into hypnotherapy with it.
Still, for the price it would be a good choice. |
