Superman is a good on the spot coinbenden. But if you can switch the coin and bend it beforehand with pliers its even better. I don't think wearing long sleaves makes the superman-gimmick bad. Well you can do it shortsleaved only you need to put 2 small things in your pocket.

The only disadvantage I had with the superman is that you can only bend thin coins, and since we don't have much thin coins in the EU I sold the coinbender again

Hello everyone,
Consider the "Quantum Bender 2.0". I know it might seem a little pricey, but it is well worth it to any working professional. It pays for itself in no time! You can see the description on my website, on the "Magicians page", or in the latest "Magic" magazine (August issue). This device is easy to use, & it makes clean, easy bends. I hope this helps!

Hmm this is indeed a bit pricey for the effect, but you have some quotes from great magicians. Maybe you could tell us more what the limitations are. Think of:
Thickness coin
easyness of ditching/hiding gimmick from 1 to 10
Maximum bend

And more you can think of

I don't have a whole lot more that I can say about it, because the ad pretty much says it all. The ad is NOT misleading, so it is the best description I can give. The device can bend coins ranging in the size from US dimes to US quarters, including foreign coins within that size range. You might be able to bend coins that are a little smaller than a US dime, or a little thicker than a US quarter. It's VERY easy to hide the gimmick. No ditching required. I can't think of anything else to say besides, I never leave home without it! & I always perform it at every single one of my professional gigs! I have an agent that when she books me, she always reminds me to make sure that I perform the "coin bending thing" at her event! I have gotten more repeat bookings from this effect, than any other thing that I do!

Many of you have probably read my previous posts on the QB 2.0. To repeat briefly, I write the directions for all of John T. Sheets' new stuff. I do not make any money for the sale of those items. I am basically an economic imbecile. I am not a magic imbecile. I have carried a QB 1.0 in my pocket every day for more than two years. EVERY day. I don't do that any more. Now I carry a QB 2.0. Think about that. I do not leave the house with this professional tool. (I also have John's Atomic Bills with me at all times.) That means I am walking around with a $600 tool in my pocket! That may be an invitation to disaster. I am careful, of course. I am always aware of it (as well as the simple set up for the Atomic Bills... if you use this, and are always ready to do it, you know what I mean!). Might I, someday, lose it. It definitely could happen. I had one close call with 1.0 and I nearly pooped myself until I figured out where it went. There is NO doubt in my mind that the risk is 100% worth it. Would I buy a replacement if I lost it? I would be out the door driving to John's house in a flash. Screw the mail! I'll keep my 1.0 as a backup... but the mothballs will be growing mold before I expect to use it again!

John and I just spent three days at the Snowmass Magical Family Festival with Eric Mead and Doc Eason. I don't know how many times John did it... but I must have bent fifty quarters while working the outdoor mall. People came back a second day with friends to see repeats of the effect... and I repeated it many times for the same groups. It is that good.

It is a significant investment. Save your money. Buy it. Their signed coin apparently bends right in front of their eyes. Your hands are clean long before the effect begins. No sleeves, no pulls, no mulitple pieces, no trick photography. No poop.

You do NOT need long sleeves for Superman, I never use those somethings when I do it. I actually do the move while asking about what their initials stand for, perhaps an embarrassing middle name, and then ditch while searching for a lighter which I use in the presentation of the bend.

For my coin bending routines I always use prebent coins.
I really don't think that investing in a coin bending tool is worth it.
but that's just me. and yes , pliers is what I use.

The ad for Quantum Bender 2.0 says "Top professionals agree that this is the best coin bending device on the planet! PERIOD!" Does anyone on the forum have any experience with this? Even if it does everything it claims to, the price kind of puts it out of the reach of people who aren't making a living from magic, although I guess you can't fault the developer if that was his intent.

I really don't get into coin stuff that much, honestly. But I have to admire the fact that outside of levitations, it seems to be the most highly debated category of magic performance.
A Trick? Well yes there are quite a few "tricks" I can do, but alas there are women and children present. Find me later.

Blindside785,
Not with the Quantum Bender. You end clean, with the sleeves up, & the dirty work is done long before the effect even begins. I hope this helps.

Maybe I'll pick one of these up.

And of course we can't forget the best tool for bending metal objects.

I can't remember what it's called, but there is a trick that you can get where you borrow a coin, get someone to sign it, place it on your hand, and it bends in front of their eyes, there in full view.

Morgan Stribbler uses the "BOA". They now have a knock off called the "Python" (the name is ironic), Exact same method, same price, different name. I just bought one called the "SL Coin Bending Tool". I haven't had time to work on it but I am very excited. It can be found here: http://tophatmagic.com/item493811.ctlg
It's very BOLD and requires misdirection. I know guys who have been using it for many years with great success.
