Hey guys,
Just a quick question regarding the best handling to make a flash string into silk. I've experimented myself, but relatively new to silk magic. I have rope to silk, but I'm looking for something Lance Burton and many other do. Any info would be mostly appreciated. yours Murby |

Hi Murby:
There was a description of this effect in MAGIC magazines a number of years ago. There was a series of articles, featuring magic from Japanese magicians, and this was one of the effects described. It is very different from the rope to silk that you have. I think if you contact MAGIC magazine, and let them know what you're after, they may be able to provide you with the back issue. If not that, at least a month/year date of the issue so you can find it somewhere else. Good luck to you. This one may take a little digging on your part, but I think it will be worth it. Ron |

I cannot begin to pronounce or spell his name but the owner of UGM magic at Abbott's last year, tipped his gimmick for handling this. It held the string silk all in place for quick easy retrival out the jacket. It was in his lecture notes. Check the UGM website or Stevens Magic. A clever and practical gimmcik.

Murby,
This is in my lecture notes for 2006 which are not available yet. (Peoria in April will start that set.) I used it in my 1982 Beverly Hills show. (Back when I was doing color changing records.) Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

I still like those color changing records, Bob, especially done with Dan Garrett's routine (Over the Rainbow). Only problem is many kids don't know what records are.

Lance Burton string to silk effect is his and his own invention. He does not use flash string. Flash string burns all at once and does not burn from the bottom up to the fingers. Once in an interview, Lance stated he invented this himself through experimentation.
I have an idea of the making of this special string treatment but it is not for me to give away any ideas on Lance Burton method. |

Flash string is still my first choice. It leaves no ash!
