I was just watching the McBride on Stage videos, when he said something about a variation zombie gimmick he uses. I think it's called the Thin Jon Bend. If you guys could help me find this, it would be great!

You mean 'Finn Jon'? I have the original Finn Jon Routine and am not aware of this feature in his gimmick. Check out Losander's Zombie gimmick at http://www.encoremagic.com you may have to email them about it. It was on their site and cost $20.
Tommy Wonder has several designs for the gimmick and that may be what you are refering to, but there is nothing on the market with a different design except the Losander gimmick. Losander has a web site and sells his video on the Zombie as well as http://www.hocus-pocus.com sells the video. Tommy Wonder had out a special Zombie for $300 but it is off the market and Losander is selling a very large basketball type of Zombie in replacement of it, approved by Tommy Wonder. |

Jeff McBride was referring to a bend (recommended by Finn Jon) that adds another inch or so above the rest of the zombie gimmick so that the cork rests a little higher. This lessens the chance of the gimmick being seen. But like anything else, practice and presentation makes perfect regardless of the gimmick.

Thanks Jimmy, I do not have the McBride video, so I went by the manuscipt Ken Brooke sold in the early '70's. It was provided with an standard gimmick.

If you can get your hands on a copy of the book Al Schneider on Zombie or his DVD The Al Schneider Technique: Vol. 4: Stand-up magic he goes into great detail about just such a modification. Both are highly recommended!

Yoyr welcomebut, what do you mean must not be in print? Do you men it's not on the market or it's not in a book?

Years before I heard of Finn Jon, I bent my gimmick because it was too long for my arm. My friends were impressed that I never flashed the gimmick, especially during certain moves.
Great thoughts mind alike... only I was just trying to shorten the stick!

I bough a cheap zombie ball from ronjo and it had this bend in it so check with the maker to see if it had the bend in it.
