Some time ago, when I began coin magic, someone sent me this clip which was originally posted on the MVD:
https://home.comcast.net/~phrygiandom/cointhruglass.avi Needless to say, my eyes popped out. I found it to be very inspiring. What are your opinions? Dave |

He does a nice job with it, the illusion looks perfect. It's nothing new though - coin through glass with MP is decades old.

Yeah...I had no idea about the MP when I first saw the video so you can imagine my frustration at the time.

... and this can be performed where?
Nowhere I get paid to magish. Though it does remind me of something Dan did way back with a coffee cup.

First of all, it's not a routine.
Second of all, I can't picture being able to perform it anywhere. Do you drive to your gigs with your sliding glass door strapped to the top of your car? This is an example of what is usually wrong with video clips. A video clip is the same as a one-eyed spectator that promises not to move. Tell me if I'm wrong.

You are wrong....
I've performed it (the sequence through and back) a handful of times. Most memorable was at a hotel where the balcony had a glass rail, so if you dropped the coin it would fall and kill someone on first floor, but the illusion was perfect... Other times usually when a doorway has glass windows around it, sliding doors, ect. Certaintly not for paid gigs but it is something cool to do when out and about and you see the right conditions. |

That looked amazing. Never seen such a great application for the MP. Until now I've considered the MP a rather useless move.

I do a routine with a pocket-size sliding-glass door. Good for impromptu -- anytime, anywhere. Problem is I always lose it or it cracks -- or a roach runs into it and splatters -- so I have to keep ordering new ones from Hank's. On a DVD I'll be releasing soon to Café members, I reach into a spectator's armpit and produce a tiny, spray bottle of Windex. Then, I spray the glass door. Then..then... the glass door VISIBLY -- pops! -- into the Windex bottle. Then I drink the Windex and pass out.

Frank, I've been doing the vertical equivalent of that trick for a while and wherever there is a glass topped coffee table... it's an opportunity to offer a moment of "wow".
