Mr. Townsend, in your version through the coffee table, is a MP necessary?

John Cornelius, Inventor of the mp {correct me if I am wrong} has a video with Mike Ammar on a coin through glass routine. It has been a long time since I have viewed the vid, but I think it is similar. I believe it is part of Mike Ammar Classic Renditions series.

The first publication I've found for it happens to be Arthur Buckley's Principles and Deceptions in which it's used for a coin production. Since then, Cornelius popularized it as the coin that falls up stunt and posted a couple of applications including through a glass table. Somewhere I saw the through a window or sliding glass door written up but I can't remember if it was another of Cornelius' application or someone else's. It's interesting that because everybody attribute's it to Cornelius as the coin the falls up I've seen a couple of people claiming originality for its use as a production. I sort of agree with Frank, it looks cool but requires the perfect situation so it might not be as practical as other tricks. On the other hand, it looks cool and isn't that difficult so if the situation arises it might be nice to have in the repertoire. Also, I know a couple of people who do the trick I always think of as the TV card frame in their close up act. A card appears in between two sheets of glass. That seems like the perfect set up to use to do this trick at every show. If you get two tricks out of the prop instead of just one it becomes a bit more practical. Dave |

Guess my old video is still floating around in cyberspace...
You can also do it on an open car door. Immobile one eyed spectators are the best, aren't they? |

Andy that's a great video.
I hope it inspires folks to explore what can be done with the tools at hand. Bravo!

I've used this one in paid shows a few times, most notably during a promotion I did for a food distributor in supermarkets. I would prop the door open in the frozen food isle and pass the coin through. I've also seen this done more than once at conventions using a hotel lobby door.

The link to the video doesn't seem to be working now. Anyone have the link to the MVD video of it?

I had removed the file to keep from going over my bandwidth limit with my ISP. I host quite a few items, and thus need to be careful with my usage.
The clip is back on again, until Thursday when it will be removed for good. Please right-click and save it to your drives. Thanks. Dave |
